What kind of Daytona is this?

Hi Everyone,

I just got back from a small town in Italy called Manarola (in Cinque Terre) and met a couple who owned a small clothing store. I commented on the wife's Explorer I she was wearing and she then pointed to her husband who had a Daytona. It was in super great condition and he told me it was a Zenith El Primero. I don't know much about it so I figured I'd ask you all! Said he bought it around 25 years ago. He also said he had the same one in a White dial (he was wearing a black dial) as well as an old Pepsi GMT from 20 years ago.

Here's a picture of it (sorry it's not a great pic), looking forward to hearing about this watch!

Thanks!

16520 zenith inverted 6 Daytona. Probably around mid 90s production.

The poster before is correct. It’s the 16520 Zenith movement Daytona. The 116520 succeeds it and is the first Daytona with an in house movement. You may notice these two references look very similar. An easy way to tell them apart is to look at the watches seconds hand. In the zenith Daytona it’s at the 9 o clock position whereas it’s at the 6 o clock position for the 116520.

16520 is more rare and thus more valuable. 116520 is in-house movement and better. <ducking>

16520 command a premium and the inverted 6 dial is even higher. With a full set that wAtch would be mid 30s easily
