Rally to the Race

Anyone here joining in on this? Or done anything like it?

In two weeks I’m meeting up with nearly 200 people in NYC. 107 cars are registered. Mine will be average, at best, based on the line up I’ve seen.

We all have breakfast in the city and take off to Atlantic City. 107 exotics driving in a pack for a few hours. We take over the Hard Rock for the night. Then drive down further south to a track for a few hours.

My wife is coming with me as my copilot. Right now I’m planning on taking the 458. But I’m truly on the fence and think I might take the 911 instead. Either way, the cars listed are mind boggling, so mine would be nothing special.

I thought I’d seen a lot of players on this forum. And I have. But the group of guys and gals participating in this appears to be a bunch of maniacs.

Would be amazing if someone from here was involved. One of my work buddies is joining too, so we will have a little pack amongst these wolves.

Either way, I’ll be sure to post a ton of pictures here.

Show up in the 911. The 458 is great but you want that many people huffing and touching it with their greasy hands???

Lmao. I highly doubt anyone will be touching either one.

I just think the 911 is a perfectly engineered machine. And it’s got all the modern touches. And being that it’s stick, it’s just immense fun to drive. In some ways, I prefer it.

It’s not as fast or nearly as sexy. But it’s more comfortable and it’s still super fast and super sexy. I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have this decision to make. Next I’ll try and decide which watch to wear.

I though about that. But I don’t trust her in the 458. and she can’t drive stick.

I’ll definitely post tons of pics my friend. Super excited.

Take the 458 - you will regret taking the 911.

It will be a very memorable and addicting experience.

How to survive? Avoid being the car putting on the show - that guy will get the tickets and suspended license. The out of town guys are dealing with different legal issues than local NJ/NY drivers.

Walkie-Talkies and Waze ....did they plan fuel stops?

As much as I kind of want to take the 911, I do think you have a point. A very good point.

And I’ll definitely stay in the middle of the pack. For certain, people will be going to jail. I feel confident in saying that based on the way some of these guys are talking. People will be exceeding 100 without thought. I won’t be. I’ve learned that lesson.

Interestingly enough, 3 police officers will be participating. Maybe that will help. But unlikely. I think once word gets out, it’ll be cops galore all around.

The organizers have put on an incredible display so far. Really impressive. I’ll have Waze going for sure. And I picked up two of the suggested walkie talkies. One for me and my buddy.

Gas stops. DJ’s flown in from Cali. Helicopter with video rolling. Tons of scantily clad women (my wife will fit right in). Gas stops. Dinner. Etc.

It appears they have thought of literally everything.

Ha. Sorry brother.

I’ll be out and about today. I’ll try and get some teaser shots. I do think it’ll be worth the wait tho.

I’m blown away with what I’ve seen so far. I had no idea what to expect when I signed up. I did not expect this. It’s literally bonkers.

I’m jealous. The organizer tend to think of everything. I can’t wait to see pictures.

One last suggestion: GoPro

Take the 458, these events are for you to drive your car and feel special w people of similar mentality. You’ll even push it on various parts of the drive as the group moves. You will meet new friends w similar cars and vastly more exotic which is prob the best part of the experience. You also mentioned a track experience, well this allows you to push the 458 and your abilities under safe conditions. Remember to do maintenance to the car afterwards depending on the extent of what you did at the track, that could be costly but definitely worth it. Have fun

Good advice. Definitely do want to push the 458 and see what it can do.

Thank you.

Already wary about after the racetrack costs. But gotta pay to play I suppose.

Hey, Seth!
This sounds like a ton of fun

You may want to watch an old movie to get in the mood

The Gumball Rally ( 1976)

Pretty dated but still fun

It’ll make you take the Ferrari, though.

Have a blast!!!'

I used to go out to racing meets and JDM car shows when I was younger and dumped cash into an 05 RSX and thought I was a cool kid. In retrospect, I’d probably have more watches in my collection if I hadn’t. Then again I wouldn’t be the person, nor the driver that I am today.

Thanks for your insight. I think.

I’m no kid at 45. And I’m definitely not cool. Im just me. Following my passions and the things that make me happy. Life is too short for anything else. And no need for any more watches at the moment.

Always have been. Always will be.

I’m sure there are some seniors who think otherwise!

Absolutely agree with you there Seth! Following your passions will certainly lead to a more fulfilled life.

In any case, the biggest legal event I did was about 30-40 cars driving to California and racing Buttonwillow. Good times.

Just a few days away.

Went to a cars and coffee today to enjoy the cars, the day and do some networking. It was small, but some beauties. A few will be at next weeks event.

The mustang duo was drool worthy.

Yeah. That piece is done. It’s getting all the rally stickers now.

For certain my friend.

This is going to be epic.

Biggest event of its kind in this area. Can’t believe I get to be a part of it.

Looking forward to the pics !

I was overtaken by a Ferrari last week on the autobahn. I was going fairly fast...but he was hypersonic. Must have been north of 160 to 170
