Carbon Fiber dial

I was at my watchmaker yesterday and we had a discussion on modified watches and he brought his latest project and I was in mesmerized by the CF dial on this watch.

Because CF has a 3 dimensional effect with the weave, the letters and minute markers looked like it was floating.

I think Rolex would hit a home run if they released a Daytona with a CF dial and SS sub dials.

This watch started out as a GMT and the following was done to it:

Custom CF dial
YM bezel so it’s bi directional
Brushed Case
GMT hand deleted
Everest rubber strap
All the internal parts are Rolex

If Rolex is reading this please release a CF dial watch with the Oysterflex.

Not really a fan of carbon fiber as there are other dial designs I would prefer on a Rolex like the Tapisserie.
Maybe Tudor would do it for yet another BB variant. I highly doubt Rolex ever would considering their conservative track record.

I like it, but somehow it also looks a bit cheap. Maybe because a friend of mine owns a full black Sub replica.

But i like the custom dial.

Looks like a fake Tapisserie that they have on AP.

Carbon Fiber dial

Too ‘gimmicky’ to me....

I’ll stick with carbon fiber on my car.

This doesn't do it for me...think its the dial on top of the matte bezel.

Would look better with a much finer weave.

Oh dear, the dial print is breaking off already, officially is losing the first 2 letters. I did not know you could print onto carbon fiber.

Triangle on top center bezel looks abnormally large.

Rolex will never make this watch. Light glare off the CF fibers being on major reason. It looks ok but, I’m not a fan of butchering any watch (well maybe a seiko skx...) so, I’m not enthralled.

Honestly, this looks terrible. Cheap, diminished legibility, fugly. If Rolex is listening, please never ever do this.

Reminds me of a Hublot.
This concept has potential.
I would like to see what Artisans de Geneve could do with it.

Ouch. Bad printing, bad coronet, China fake YM bezel, a GMT pretending to be Sub why. Is your friend ok upstairs? (or whoever wanted this done)

I am all one for modifying watches - but this looks incredibly cheap

To see all the parts mashed together, make it that much worse in my opinion.

GMT -> YM -> Submariner -> Carbon Fibre? What in the ....

Would prefer a 20$ Casio.

Big pass from me.

Looks like a cheap knock off and what’s up with the dial printing?

Ew. I'm not against modifying a Rolex and looks are subjective but aesthetic cf is cheap, might as well be a plastic dial. I would not pay Rolex money for a watch with a cf dial, ever.
