Pepsi & Coke-Oyster & Jubilee

I am a newbie and I don't know which model came with which bracelet and I cannot find a good guide. Sometimes I see the coke or pepsi with an oyster bracelet and sometimes with Jubilee and I don't know what is correct. Please help

Hi. You need to be more specific. Are you talking about ceramic or steel inserts? Current or older references. There are threads you can find here that you can refer to for more information. Try searching for Springer. He has some posts here that can possibly provide you with the information you need. If you can narrow down your query I’m sure someone can chime in with some help.

The bezel insert on the 16710 GMT is irrelevant as to which bracelet the watch may have. The jubilee was always optional, right up until a couple of years before production ceased. There is no distinction made, coke, pepsi or blk bezel insert was available on both jubilee and oyster. Here’s mine for reference, I have both bracelets.

There are several models of both Jubilee and Oyster bracelets that were available for the various GMT models.

Beginning in 1960 and a few years earlier, you have GMTs available with the Swiss made 7206 Oyster and 6251 Jubilee. Around 1970 the 7206 Oyster was replaced by the 7836 Oyster model while the Jubilee 6251 was still available.

During the later half of the 1970s (around 1976), the Swiss Oyster 78360 was introduced along with the Swiss made Jubilee 62510. (You will find some overlapping clasp date codes during the later 1970s during the transition years for the 7836 and 78360 as well as the 6251 and 62510.) Also during 1976, the locking clasp Swiss Oyster 93150 was introduced - this bracelet was also referred to as the Submariner bracelet where it was commonly found and was not an option on the GMT 1675 as far as I know.

Beginning in late 1979, the GMT 16750 was offered with the 78360 Oyster, 93150 locking clasp Oyster and the Jubilee 62510. These same bracelets were utilized on the GMT II 16760/16710 and GMT 16700. Later, the Oyster 78790 and 78790A was offered on the GMT 16700s and GMT II 16710s.

There were also USA-made bracelets made during the 1950s up until the end of the 1970s that were found or could be found on USA watches. Two of the most common bracelets were the USA oval-link Jubilees and the Oyster C&I bracelets.

There are various end links used for the different models throughout the decades and while the end links changed, the basic bracelet styles remained the same.

There you go. I probably missed something somewhere but that is a quick synopsis of the GMT bracelets from around 1960 until the end of 16710 GMT II production. Bezel insert colors had nothing to do with the bracelets available on the GMTs.

JP, please add me to the waiting list for your GMT-Master book when it comes out.
