Tattoos

Well, this last weekend while we were in Vegas celebrating my wife’s 40th birthday i decided to finally take the plunge and get my first tattoo. Never thought I’d actually get one but the last year or so I’ve really been wanting to do it. I put a lot of thought into what would be my first and decided i wanted to get my parents signatures. I lost my dad when i was 15 in 2001 and my mom 9 years later in 2010. It took me a long time to come to terms and deal with the loss .

I was able to pull their signatures off of the original mortgage they signed for the house i grew up in. They artist was able to get a clear image and i think it turned out great.

I’m glad I did it and it will be a constant reminder of the great memories i had in the short time we got to share together.

Congrats. Nice reminder. I'm not pro or con tattoos, but just never ever got one. Had a few piercings.

As with tattoos and piercings, I've always said "bet ya can't get just one".

You've got a nice start.

thats wonderful, and imo, what a tattoo should be.

mine are all meaningful. even the ones that no longer mean anything...if you get my meaning.

but they are all, every one of them (even the bad ones), a reminder of a point in my life and what it meant to me.

I think it is a beautiful tribute to your parents, and an excellent choice for a first tattoo. Hard to have any regrets over that one

I feel you on this one. In my case they've almost taken on an even deeper meaning as a result.

Looks like a nice and meaningful tattoo. Hard to get just 1 piece done.

Really glad I waited 36 years and put some serious thought into my first. 15 years ago I could have done some really dumb sh!t that I'd regret today

Big congratulations. I can't think of anything more sentimental than what you had done.
Tattoos are great reminders of the past.

How fabulous, wonderful reason to get tattoos. Many, many congratulations.

Mine have got no meaning whatsoever and I wish I'd never got them, they were all done in the 70's and were cover ups of ones I did myself with a needle and India ink. Technique and materials have moved on so much since I got mine and would get some these days, trouble is, they would be just covering over others and would be more or less black.

I am not a tattoo guy. Never even considered getting one. But, as tattoos go, I think that's about as classy as it gets. Well done.

Very cool congrats! Careful, tattoos are like Rolexes. You go into it thinking you’ll be happy with one and next thing you know you’re collecting them lol. Take care not to let it get too much sun while it heals and don’t over-moisturize. Both of these can lead to scabbing as it heals and when the scab falls off it can take ink with it. A lot of it just depends on how well your skin heals. My wife has never had a scab take ink out of a tattoo but I’ve had to get all of mine touched up after from ink falling out as I heal.

Tattoos

My daughter and I have the same tattoo on our forearms, an anchor with the words "Refuse to Sink". It represents fighting against all odds. It represents my determination to walk again after a bad motorcycle accident.
