Getting close to a cat 5. We are getting slammed with bands, transformers a few blocks down already blew and we have already commenced drinking.

ST. Petersburg. Mild wind and rain. We dodged a bullet. I feel bad for my friends in Ft. Myers.

* I.A.N. * Hurricane Ian, Sept-Oct 2022.

We are pretty squared away here so now my only worry is the squirrel family that lives in my palm tree.
Note, I chained the speed limit sign to the power pole.

Tampa Bay really dodged a bullet from what things were looking like 24 hours ago. We'll still see 75 MPH winds later today but I'm praying for those south of us to stay safe.

Very good move, Goat.

We got some scrambling wildlife as well. Bunch of bunnies and squirrels. Still have all utilities and DirecTV. It’s gonna be a long day. Stay safe!

Breezy and rain bands are increasing at my location. Good day for a Star Wars marathon. As long as there is power.

Some wind, screen is not howling yet.

Sadly, I've already eaten most of my hurricane snacks. :(

100% truth right there. For the few years I lived in New Orleans (1994 - 1997), nobody cared at all what any weather person or computer model said when it came to hurricanes - we all tuned in to WWL to see what Nash said and that was the gospel.

I feel sick for the folks who are devastated by Ina. The vids being aired tell the story.

Is everyone who lives in the path and commented on this thread ok?

Current spaghetti plots: Sept 28, 2022

https://apps.sfwmd.gov/sfwmd/common/...orm_09_ens.gif
(I keep refreshing as it is updated periodically.)

Common spaghetti models:

ECMWF: The European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting model. Europe’s global model, considered the top forecasting model for several years running.

GFS: The Global Forecast System of the National Weather Service. This is America’s global model and in recent years has fallen behind models from Europe, the United Kingdom and Canada.

UKM: The United Kingdom Met Office’s Unified Model. A global model.

CMC: The Canadian Global Environment Multiscale Model. A global model.

GFDL: The National Weather Service’s Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory Model. A regional model run on demand capable of anticipating storm intensity.

HWRF: The National Weather Service’s Hurricane Weather Research Model. Like the GFDL, the HWRF is one of just a few models capable of predicting intensity.

I live dead center of where it made land fall. Watching this on TV was like watching OJ on a Slow Speed Chase except he was driving YOUR car on his way to YOUR house. We bugged out to FLL on Monday. Neighbors who stayed behind reported multiple trees down and pool lanai destroyed on our street. Power was out by 1-m and cell service was still going at 8ish tonight. I guess cell towers have battery back ups.

We have LOTS of trees and power lines down. No power, no cell service since around 7 last night. I was lucky enough to figure out how to get the frontier up so we can at least have wifi. Been working on that for the last couple hours.

Just had a conversation with a couple deputies that patrol my area and they said there is some flooding but not much. They don’t have cell or anything either, their computers are barely working to display calls.

Everyone in my household is safe and the house is still here and still has a roof. Could have been a lot worse. Worried about those of mine farther south, we haven’t had contact for about 11 hrs.

Good to hear. Basically the same boat here. Power came on at 3am for 30 mins before the big white flash. Still out this morning. I think we were just on the north western edge of the track. I’ve got tree limbs down but the house seems OK. Everybody is good, and kids are good up in Tampa and Brandon, so I’m just thankful.

Yes. Only way on or off to both islands. Unless you’ve got a boat.
