GMT and Glidelock - successful marriage

I have recently purchased a 126710BLRO on a jubilee bracelet and have been wearing this for over a month now. (Love it BTW!)

However as much as the jubilee has grown on me, I did originally want to change the look and as the GMT is one of only a few Rolexes that allows for easy swap of the bracelet I was going to either a) buy a new oyster bracelet for it or b) swap the bracelet from my 116500 Daytona.

However I have seen a few discussions here about the GMT needing brushed links and found myself agreeing with this. As luck would have it, I also have a 116600 SD4k which comes with brushed links (and, as an added bonus, glidelock!) so one purchase of a Bergeon 7825 later we are here: -










Am very happy with the look and fits perfectly using the springbars from the SD4k.
Very easy to do using the 7825, which I recommend despite the comparatively high cost. The whole process took around 10 mins which means I might mix it up more often as the fancy takes me..

Well done. The brushed bracelet looks great on a GMT.

I added an oyster bracelet to mine and much prefer it over the jubilee.

One of the reasons I prefer the jubilee (beyond comfort) is that I really don’t like PCL’s on the Oyster. This is a great way to get the best of both worlds and the glidelock to boot

116600 SD4k, not SD43.

I don't know what got into Rolex and Omega's heads in the 2000s that made them start putting PCLs on all sorts of sports watches that should never have had them.

Omega has mostly reversed this, thankfully, but for several years there they had watches with otherwise great vintage styling ruined by garish PCLs.

Rolex has yet to reverse it on the GMT, which is especially odd after it got the Jubilee option back. Polished Jubilee and brushed Oyster would be the best options.

The aesthetics are pleasing and natural.

I'm not sure why the GMT doesn't come with a brushed bracelet with a Glidelock clasp (or a derivative of it) straight from the factory.

What specific spring bar would I need to purchase in order for it to be compatible with my BLRO?

Won’t fit - the bracelet on the 12 series is 21mm wide at the lugs as opposed to 20mm on the BLRO.

I used the springbars used with the bracelet (SD4k) for mine - didn’t check if the BLRO springbars would fit - probably would be my guess but I went for the more substantial ones from the 116600and it slotted right in.
When I change I’ll try the BLRO ones to see.

The end links don’t fit correctly you can tell the bracelet is off another watch. But if you’re happy go for it.

You are correct - I have noticed that the bezel is (ever so slightly) harder to turn so not a perfect solution - thinking it might be due to the seadweller bracelet is slightly thicker as the watch is thicker..?
However, on balance I am happy with it. Probably not a long term solution but will tide me over for now.
The solution may be to get an oyster bracelet and brush the links like I have seen on here.
