SBGZ003, anyone getting one?

Seiko‘s Micro Artist Studio watches are getting better and better!

Anyone on the fence of getting one?
Does the yellowgold variant have the same movement?

Excellent Hodinkee article about the watch

Well it’s a $57k watch so I’m a no. The yellow gold sbgy002 doesn’t have the same movement I think.

SBGY002/003 have the 9R31 whereas the Z001/003 have the 9R02, which has the Torque Return System, thereby extending PR to 84 hours against the standard 72.
More decoration too as it’s not a single plate, and the barrel cover has the familiar kikyo (bellflower) design first seen on the Credor Sonnerie in 2006/7.

I know Tom

Considering getting the 003 as well, or do you know anyone?

I don’t know anyone with 003, but know a few with Eichi II.

I also know some are now considering RR CC instead of pieces from micro artist studio since they are in the same price bracket.

It depends on how you feel though. RR is mechanical watch and I know some are gambling on it will become the next PD simplicity so they want to get it before it becomes really expensive. They think no matter how exceptional MAS pieces are, it is still from a conglomerate and doesn’t offer the value upside.

I glanced at the article and was about to respond "I'd be all over that" then scrolled down to the price. Ouch. If I had the money, I still think I would consider it. Nice looking piece for sure. I like the Elegance collection from GS more and more lately.
