It's your watch and your property. Do with it what you want. There's no written rule. The best thing to do if you're wary of coming off as a flipper is to offer the watch back to them for purchase.

Depends on your relationship with your AD. Some flip before even getting the watch, they have the buyer ready and the AD doesn't care (someone even admitted flipping a sought after watch on youtube and continuing to get more sought after watches and his AD knows and doesn't care). Others get blacklisted even if they sell a DJ after 2 years.

My AD buys back Rolex watches that I have bought from them either as a trade in or as outright purchase but their policy is that the watch has to be at least two years old (I don’t know why).

It’s never safe to sell anything these days, it’s a jungle out there.

Your watch, do with it as you please. Why would you tell your AD?

I traded in my Explorer against the purchase of a Submariner from my AD. Painless procedure, some paperwork, and I was offered more for the Explorer than I paid for it from the same AD.

This. Most ADs will begrudge you for selling any recent Rolex they sold you. All too often, buyers of used Rolex watches, call Rolex to verify the watch is authentic and Rolex in turn notifies the selling AD. Happens all the time.

If your AD finds out you sold one of the watches he sold you, you will be tarred and feathered

I’m not advocating you sell something on but how on earth would they ever know? Unless you are related to the owners

As a rule of thumb - always keep your serial numbers private regardless of whether selling or just showing off your collection. Also best to obscure the date on the warranty card.

For what it’s worth, the fact that my SA knows I generally keep the watches he’s sold to me helps me get future purchases. I did sell the BLNR I got from him after receiving a BLRO. He knew I only wanted one GMT and was aware.

Many here are giving advice such as it's your watch, do as you please. Which is true. However, the OP is asking if by doing this will it harm his relationship with his AD. This all depends on your relationship with them, how many watches they get for you, do you want any more from them etc. For me, I have a great relationship which allows me to get watches that others can't. I would never put that relationship in jeopardy by selling it to another. I would rather go back to the AD, tell them I'm just not feeling this watch and ask them if you could trade it on for something else. |

LOL. This issue comes up frequently on the forum. Contacting Rolex seems to make a lot of sense to a lot of buyers. Not everybody for sure, but just enough that it can be an issue if you are on the fence about selling and absolutely don't want your AD to ever find out. |

If it’s a concern to you, go to the AD and show it to the SA you bought it from and tell them how happy you are with the watch. Then sale it the next day.

You have every right to sell your watch, just as your AD has every right not to sell you another one.
If you’ve come on to hard times, I would be courteous and at least give your AD a heads up. If you’re a flipper, you takes your chances. Selling a (relatively) new watch, you become more of a competitor to them than a client.

Just curious, what’s the motivation to sell a watch after only a year? Or ever for that matter. I’m one of those people who never sell anything.
