Bezels!

Morning chaps, How often do you use yours? Does yours move freely? Have you tried gripping it tightly and giving it a twist lately or is it like mine stiff all the time? Bezels! you perves, bezels!
Seriously, I wonder what percentage of owners actually make use of their bezels. I know it doesn't really matter and that it's the design and image of the item are what sells 'em.
How many Range Rovers d'you see with muddy wheels? What do Daytona owners REALLY do with all those knobs and dials?
Film is dead but, my Nikon F2AS is still a joy to hold and admire.
It is the individual pleasure we get from owning any of our toys (tools included.) It doesn't matter what anybody says about our personal taste, thank God we live in a society where we are free to indulge in expensive trinkets, we are as they say, a long time dead!

Happy Saturday!

FB.

Time, is luck.

Well I seriously doubt if 20 % of all divers type bezel watches sold are use for what they are intended for.Same for all the high water resistant watches I would doubt if 15% see any water other than perhaps the swimming pool of a quick dip in the ocean.Same for the petrol diesel guzzling 4X4s most will never see the brown muddy stuff, unless they splash though a puddle, taking kids to school

I must admit to useing the bezels on my watches quite a bit, though as padi said not for what they were designed for. LOL!
I time parking meters, my morning run, how long my wife can talk without taking a breath .

I do have one of those jobs where knowing a second timezone is nice so my GMT is quite usefull.

I use the chrono function occasionally for timing how long sessions with cleints last (if we're feeling particularly anal & greedy ) or how long voice reads take, so they're under 30seconds and so forth. Only used it to time the speed of the car once, and it worked like a treat. Mind you...so did the speedo on the car

I use my bezel, it is great to tell time in Qatar and Afghanistan where the latter is 1/2 hour off so 24 hour clocks do not help.

Then again I also love my F2AS with MD-2 and MB-1!

Well, like the others, I use the bezel on my SD to time mundane things like parking meters and how long that casserole's been on the stove. On the other hand, the markings on my Tudor 79170 read 1 to 12 instead of increments of 10, so I use it as an improvised GMT measure to read Singaporean time (where I have friends and family), and I use the chrono functions a fair bit too, especially to time the rest period between sets at the gym.

I sometimes turn the bezel on my GMT to time parking meters. If I'm not wearing a chrono, I will occasionally use it to time a walk, although I prefer one of my chronos for that purpose. If I'm wearing a chrono while travelling by plane, I will try to time wheels up to wheels down, just for fun, to see how close the pilot came to his computerized timing at the beginning of the flight.

all the time

I use my bezels all the time, my 14060 is a bit harder to grip and turn compared to my Omega and Seiko.

The Seiko takes the cake in the ease of use for bezel turning.. very fine clicks. I did a count it was 120 clicks.

I also use my chrono for timing my steaks

Never! I'm NOT a bezel fiddler, but I always make sure that the bezel triangle is aligned spot-on with the triangle '12' at the top.

We know that's just part of your anal personality, JJ. It goes along with your penchant for sheep.

I know I misread your sentence, but it's disgusting nonetheless

I use it to time how long I've been cooking things on the grill. This way I'll know how much longer I have to finish my beer.

I took out a door frame with mine about a week after I got the watch. Luckily the watch is fine but I'll have to re-paint the door frame.

As a long haul international pilot I use my bezel to set the local time zone using the 24 hour hand and gmt stays on the 12 hour hand.
