Black dial impossible for me in low light. White dial most of the time but not always. In the sunlight, I could see the time on any Darth Vader like watch. BTW, with the speedy. I don't even need to see the lume! One of the most legible watches I have come across.

I think this is a great example of the differences on dials. For what it's worth, my "trick" is to focus on the black paint fill of the hands on white dial Daytonas, and the white lume of the hands on black dials or darker dials. Now white dial 116500s though make this more difficult and why imo it's actually the most difficult to read. I find the general time is much easier to see on my Sub at a quick glance, but the exact time is much easier to see on the Daytonas when taking your time. Just my

The easiest piece I own to tell time on is my IWC 3717. Can't miss that in any light....totally legible. The Sub is also easy to read but not as easy as the PIlot watch. Compared to either of those the Daytona in black face or silver racing dial are both rather "cryptic". I can stare at them and enjoy looking without even realizing what time it is ....like looking at a beautiful girl and not listening to what she's saying! Daytonas are a wee bit too busy to see time at a glance. Same thing with the Skydweller IMO
