I have the DD40 Rose Gold, Olive dial and a new AP15500ST.

I love both. The DD40 is my only current gold watch and always looks great, especially at more formal activities - although it also does anything. The AP is a stunning watch and the bracelet gathers and reflects light like nothing else. I could not choose. I believe the DD is available from an AD rather promptly where the AP is probably best purchased from a reseller.

If you can get a 15202 Jumbo, that's one of the nicest watches ever made in my opinion.

Tried really to love the 15202...but couldn't get past only having 2 hands..... But I'm sure Mr Genta had a good reason on the 5402 so who am I to argue.

But I'd still take a 15202 over a DD ;o)

RO. It’s just that little bit different. It’s a special watch, but not taking away from the DD

at retail prices AP jumbo or 15500 blue > DD > 15500, at market prices I would go for DD.

Guys thank you very much for all your answers. Your answers confirm my love for both watches. I also am considering selling my Hublot and the GMT LN, although I have huge emotional ties to both... let’s see!

Would anyone change his answer if I add that I am 28 years old ?

RO.

And if I'm buying a gold watch, it will be the Patek 5205 or Lange AC or chrono. Or FPJ.

Day-Date or Royal Oak

Between those 2 specific choices, I’d go with the Royal Oak.

I like the RO better than the DD. Just remember the DD with the fluted bezel and President bracelet will hide scratches way better than the RO. DD also more robust.

Day date in this case. If you can swing for Royal oak on rose gold, that’s what I’d do...mostly because I don’t like the romans on the DD.

For me it would be a RO. It's iconic, very pretty, and awesomely sporty and masculine.

But, it's not like there's a bad choice to make, here.

Royal Oak, even though that’s a really tough choice.

I would also sell the LN GMT and buy both if you were able. It would be nice to have the AP to add to the variety and have a gold DD. The BLRO is so beautiful and you could always get an oyster down the road if you miss the bracelet and have a jubilee.

I personally lean the DD40, but sounds like you're crazy about the Royal Oak. Plus you'd be getting some nice brand variety in the collection

Are you planning on purchasing from a grey dealer? I ask because the blue 15500 is almost impossible to get without purchase history (although miracle stories happen) and the 15202 without a very lengthy purchase history just will not happen it’s impossible. 15202 is like walking into a Rolex AD with no purchase history and asking them for a ceramic Daytona on the spot. It’s just not happening. This might make your decision easier.

28 in London and having a successful career, I would say no change, these watches are luxurious but par for the course for a successful metropolitan professional with an interest in watches.

No, I'm planning to buy at retail price. I am working in the watch industry, so I'm lucky I have contacts who could help me have a Royal Oak Jumbo relatively fast and without purchase history.

I sold my RO 15400 and bought a DJ41, so yeah I would definitely prefer a DD over a RO.

Im not judging you because who would turn this kind of thing down. However this is really the problem with the industry. To most they have to spend upwards of 100k in a year to be considered. Meanwhile you have a friend who can hand you one quickly without purchase history... not surprising just disappointing. In this case get the 15202 and enjoy

Day-Date in RG or WG with the Olive dial is one of the best looking watches

Definitely not too young, especially for a nice WG Day Date that is more modern than YG feels.

That's not so bad of an idea assuming no sentimental value. Or perhaps even go to the RG Royal Oak chocolate sunburst....
