Before anyone starts making assumptions this man is a patriot from New England NOT to be confused with a patriots fan.

Re: safes...I worry they could increase the chance my family or I come into contact with an intruder whom has broken in so I strategically pass on that. If you have it coupled with a state of the art security system I think it makes sense.

Nope, don’t agree. The purchase of an expensive item does not make it your fault if the item is stolen and you did not also invest in expensive security measures. Now, I grant you, taking reasonable precautions is of course, prudent, I think we all probably do. I admit I have little sympathy for someone that exhibits extremely poor judgement (an example I read about is an individual that was extremely intoxicated, started bragging and showing off his Rolex in a seedy bar, and when he recovered from his inebriation discovered his Rolex missing), but insinuating that if my condo was broken in to and robbed, and my Rolex stolen, I am partially or all to blame because I did not purchase an expensive safe to put it in is ridiculous.

Instead of a safe, went with a booby trap/poison dart system, similar to the one at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Wish I'd have been able to afford the giant rolling boulder, but the market on those things has exploded.

It tells me the inside temperature, humidity, if its being moved, including tremors from earthquakes, if the door has been opened, everything you need. Buying a luxery watch is like buying a luxery car and not insuring it. Oh, you also get a discount on you homeowners insurance as well. Its just hard to feel sorry for someone that gets their watch stolen and doesnt have a home alarm(with remote dialer) and/or a safe. You have no one to blame but yourself. Sorry to sound cold, but it happened because you did nothing to protect your investment. Titles should read my watch was stolen from my house because I didnt spend the money to protect it.
Just out of interest, how much did your safe that could tell the temperature, electric monitoring and no doubt a whole host of other features, cost please?

Yawn.... and thanks everyone for letting us know you keep valuables in the most obvious of targets... a "safe".

I leave mine on the dash of my car. I figure since I don't have a safe, I might as well give the thieves what they want and maybe they will just go away.

Make sure you leave it unlocked so they don't have to break a window.

I must be missing something here. How does having a safe increase your chances of a break in unless it's out in the open and visible if someone looks through your front windows?

I imagine most people who have safes have the safe hidden and nobody knows it's there.

If a hidden safe I would agree

I assume most of these larger floor safes that are bolted to the ground etc aren’t as inconspicuous... and in that case, it’s like a beacon in the night highlighting where the valuables are kept.

My thought is that a burglar finds a massive safe they can’t open in the basement etc and curiosity has them wanting to come back when you’re home and make you open it. Could be BS but the only safe I have is for my unmentionables and I didn’t bolt it down I would prefer they walk off with it.

Two dogs, two safes, two large baseball bats, and a tough upbringing!

Plus a badass police officer wife.

And most importantly of course, insurance!

You gotta have the short baseball bats. Quicker strikes in close quarters.

Yep, also have a child’s baseball bat under the bed for use in the stairwell if required! Forgot about that one!
