Rolex Submariner 116610LN vs Omega Seamaster Diver 300m
https://monochrome-watches.com/rolex...rative-review/ . In my opinion, Rolex has great merit. A clearly inferior product has a value of 60% more and over time that value will only increase. |

Omega does make a great dive watch....if you like the hideous wave dial, awful skeleton hands, and gimmicky helium valve.

Probably the nicest piece Omega makes. I'd take the ceramic case version myself.

Owned a few Omega's in my life. Technical perfect but this brand does not sing to me.

Both great pieces and both are heavy hitters at their price point in my opinion.

Not even a question. That wave dial is terrible. Sub for sure

In relation to my current collection, I prefer the Seamaster in all respects except for its size and bracelet.

This goes to show that we don't wear technical specifications. I will always go for a sub regardless how "prefect" the Omega is. And plus, technology aside, both offer way, WAY more than the average person needs.

The Omega is very very nice. It blows the Rolex in terms of movement technicality and advancement. Its a great dive watch. Aesthetically is looks very nice as well especially the white dial.
This is a Rolex forum full of Rolex fan boys so you already know that 99% of ppl are going to lean towards simply because it says "Rolex" on the dial. LOL |

I have the 2006 Omega Seamaster... I don't like the newer version.

The omega is almost perfect. Especially for it’s price. I like everything about it except the skeleton hands, wave dial, case, HEV, crown guards, bracelet, and date window. Other then that perfect.
You can’t compare the 2 as the submariner is the most iconic sports watch on the planet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I had the blue dial for a while. Honestly it felt like a technically superior watch to the Sub in many ways. But like others have said, I grew very cold to the wave dial and especially that gimmicky helium release valve. The white dial looks really good to me, and if they ever ditch that valve, I’d probably go back to it (but never as a replacement to the Sub, only an addition).

I own the Omega and it's very impressive in person. Looks great, wears pretty well, keeps great time (METAS certification with +0 to +5 spd never losing time). Movement is great, very pretty and has a nice display caseback which I love, still WR to 300m. The dial is awesome, has a great three-dimensionality to it. Helps that there's AR coating on the crystal. Only thing I dont like is the bracelet. Too heavy, rough around the edges, and no taper, YUCK. Bracelet design is also so old and out-dated. Clasp is also a bit too bulky. Fortunately Omega makes an amazing rubber bracelet and it transforms the diver 300m into something that's actually wearable and quite comfortable!
If I happened to own both and could only keep one, I would keep/pick the sub for sure. That's assuming it was possible to buy one from an AD. Which it is not. Big props to sub for the superior bracelet, glidelock, and overall better design aesthetic and deeper-rooted history and heritage. Now if only those lugs could get trimmed a little...

You can't lose either way really. Both stylish and iconic, just in different ways. The Omega looks like a watch they couldn't stop designing. The Sub Date nails it with understatement. Take your pick. Or take both.

Wavy busy dial, busy bracelet, protruding crowns on both sides of the case... Omega has too much going on for a watch case. Rolex wins for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

i have owned and sold both watches
i sold my sub as i bought a 16710 coke and realised that i am a 5 digit guy and to be honest i am not sure i really liked the ceramic bezel and super case look the 300m was my 4th omega sports watch and like the predecessors it lasted about a year. its a great watch with a better movement and build quality that comes far too close to a ceramic sub for the msrp let alone the actual real world prices of these watches. why did i sell? its too big for me, the HE valve not so great but the big issue was the bracelet as the lack of taper does make it uncomfortable over any time. a nato or rubber strap are options but at the end it had to go conclusions i want a 14060m sub

The Omega is nice I have the Seamaster Vancouver 2010 version. Nice watch but at the end of the day its not a Submariner.
The Submariner is an iconic watch and wins hands down in comparison. |

I am a Speedmaster devotee - and really want to love the Omega brand more. I think the Seamaster is a beautiful watch with technical mastery .... and I kept waiting for the launch .... but... I didn’t get one because there is something about Omega’s designs on this watch ( versus the P O or Speedy ) that don’t feel “genuine” to me - doesn’t resonate. I can’t explain it, but it strikes me that the costume of the watch is in priority over the function. As I said, I think they are spectacular....but that’s what stopped me from buying.....

The only timeless omega Seamaster is the 2500 series. The wave dial from that era is simple and classy, unlike the laser etched mess on the current model.
But regardless. To compare a Seamaster to a Submariner is like comparing a Kia to a Porsche; the Kia may have all the fancy electronics cramped in but it ain’t a Porsche and never will be. |

Love the sub, like the Seamaster. If I had gotten a Seamaster first I could easily have added sub. But once getting the sub first, it was hard to “desire” the Seamaster. That’s just me personally but otherwise think there’s room for both in a collection.

I have the 114060. I definitely like it better, but I’d love to have Seamaster 300m too. Having both is better than just having one.

I have a number of Rolex/Tudor plus a 300m, Sedna/steel on rubber.
The dial’s polarizing, but I like it, and there’s room for both so far as I am concerned. |

This. I had both and sold both. I thought the sub was too small on my 7" wrist and went with SD43. I also didn't like the Seamaster wave dial, thought it looked too severe and cartoonish. I did like the exhibition back though.
