Icon10 1 Week wait only for 116610LN

So yeah, that happen.
About a week ago, I contacted a local Jewelry who happens to be a Rolex AD (They asked me not to name them, which will become clear in a bit), for a diamond ring to replace my Wife engagement ring as we loss the original. Since I knew they are an AD I also asked how long the wait for an Rolex Sub. They gave the standard answer of "6 months to a year," so i said please add me to your list and just figured that was the end of it.

A week later, I get an email from the lady saying they have one 116610LN available and mine If I want it. I could not believe it, and even my Wife said I would be stupid to pass it up. So yeah I got it, a 116610LN only after 1 week on the waiting list. Hell, this is my 2nd Rolex in two years, something I totally did not expect.

Talking to the AD I asked how did this happen, and the sales associate tells me it turns out this place treats the watch department differently from the jewelry department. So the store manager offered to the Jewelry department a Rolex for any customers they had looking for one and I was picked it seems. So just dumb luck. They told me others are still waiting longer for the same watch (which is why they asked if I post online, not to mention their name).

Congratulations! That’s a great piece and you are lucky but try to take the sales person talk with a grain of salt.

Yeah i totally get it, but really cant think of a reason i got the call in a week unless covid is really hurting their business and I was the only name on the list

I agree. Main thing is you got an awesome watch!

Sorry, I don’t mean to make it sound less special. I only said that because my AD tells me so many stories that I don’t know what to believe lol.

Enjoy your watch brother!

Congrats. Just a feeling: I sometimes believe that the list is not the truth, they have the watch you ask for and are ready to sell it to you, but strange times given, they feel obliged to stage anyway the story of the long list and of the great fortune you had, to skip those long waiting times. So "let pass a week and call the customer for that allocation piece you had in store from the beginning". Just a feeling. ADs sell, make customers happy, will show to treat specific ones in a special way and everybody is happy.

Congratulations OP! Nothing strange here, they prioritize their jewelry clients for hot ss watches over those waiting on imaginary lists. Makes perfect sense from a business perspective. I’m sure you also spent a bunch of money on your wife’s replacement ring which made you a priority when it came time to allocate the watches they got in their Rolex shipment. Enjoy it, and post some pictures!

I purchased a green sub last year. I got it with in 6 weeks. I was very surprised as well. I actually asked my AD how I got it so soon, the SA told me it was because I’d made other purchases that weren’t just watches. (I had bought earrings as a gift. Cost was about $1800). I had also turned down a couple other SS models that were offered to me prior to buying the sub.

Sounds like a semi bundle deal as a consequence of the ring purchase, so good thing you needed a ring, great timing.
Must feel great to get Sub, it’s such a classic and timeless watch, huge congrats.

AD can sell to whoever they want. They may have had a list, maybe they called a few people and they all passed... Who knows...

Congrats though!

Funny thing we were still shopping for the ring and looking at other options. Since the watch came up wife decided to delay getting her replacement till next year
