Can barely read the chrono subdials on the Daytona, so it would have to be the YM42 even if I'm not a fan of the matte ceramic bezel not the black dial in the YM, but I could give it a shot.
Ideadlly, I'd like the Daytona with a 42mm case or the YM42 with a precious metal bezel and nicer dial as it should be. |

The YM is going to seem huge compared to the Daytona FWIW.
I tired on the YM at it’s release and liked it well enough ... although the plots seemed larger than most and I wasn’t too sure about how I felt about that ... |

If there ever was a "No-Brainer", this is it........I mean, a Yachtmaster.......why??? Its a nice watch but compared to the iconic history and status of a Daytona, you shouldn't even have to ask the question.

I'm pretty surprised at the responses I have to say. Daytona seems to be a favorite. Daytona it is!!!!!

It would be a hard choice if my wrist was larger. As it is I'd personally go for the Daytona.

If you like a watch that will lose half its value, has no real history and most wonder why its even in the lineup, go for it At least you'll have a "nicer" watch. |

Tuff one: if you have a SS Daytona C I would go with WG YM, then the WG Daytona. If not the WG Daytona it’s a stunner!

If I hadn’t had actual experience, I would not have commented. That’s what the op was presumably asking for.... |

I would go Daytona, but would probably trade in/sell the steel one you have so as not to overbalance the collection.

Having owned the Daytona and tried on the ym numerous times. The Daytona is so so much more of a watch.

Hopelessly subjective of course. But I’ve owned the 116509 Daytona (with gold bracelet) and now wear a Yachtmaster 42. My feeling is that the Daytona fits naturally with a metal bracelet. Less so with the Oysterflex which looks like a watch that could slide out of fashion. I believe the bracelet model will endure rather better.
The Yachtmaster is designed in such a way that the matt black strap suits the look of the watch. It ‘fits’ in a way the Daytona/Oysterflex doesn’t. Put simply, the 42mm is a better looking watch. That’s just my view, but I backed it with my own purchase. Still feels right. To me. |

Awesome, good choice.
Personally I like both, although I bought the YM first and I'm still waiting for the Daytona on a wish list, but whichever way around they're both great watches. Congrats. |
