Sending a Watch via mail - UK

Hi,

Looking for some advice, hope it's allowed, apologies if not.

I'm thinking of selling my GP watch. Started by going through the usual resellers but the offers are low, so i'm considering selling it privately. The only thing i'm struggling with is how to send it.

Most companies seem to only offer up to £2500 insurance, but I need to up £5000. The only one i've found so far is DPD but they will charge me £260 just for the insurance alone!

Any advice from those in the UK that have done this before?

Thanks

You haven't mentioned if it's domestic or overseas, but I've even used this to ship abroad: Registered post. "Used watch" or "precision instrument". Value: 100 quid. Done. Needs a pair, but I assume that's a given!

If sending within the UK use Royal Mail Special Delivery. It's their top service and very reliable. I prefer not to advertise the value of the package and just say it's parts for a clock.

Thanks for the replies, i thought about using RM Special Delivery but they only insure up to £2500, and right now they are not requiring signatures!

I can just see the buyer claiming they never received it and i'd be down £2500
