Need your opinion about this 16520 dial

Hi mates,

My knowledge for watches is not yet good enough to know what is good and what's to avoid in the 16520 Daytona world.

Here is an - oxidized - dial. Is it a nice patina or is it because of water? Or did someone put it in the oven ? Is it something to search for or to really avoid ?

Many thanks for considering my request guys !

Have a nice week-end !

How about a larger and better quality photo.

The subdials have nice color but I see where the black part looks rough and oxidized. I have a w serial that almost turned a more matte than shiny color but that one In the pic looks a little like sandpaper. I wouldn’t recommend it because who knows what some did or didn’t do to it. Hard to say and better closeups would help

Do the "upside down 6" dials naturally oxidise?

I thought that it was the later mk4 dials which are known for this.

The inverted 6 can turn a light brown but the w,s, and t serial usually turn darker more like brown sugar color

it is a N serie which has a dial looking like sandpaper, I find it strange but need your opinions.

You can post much, much larger photos than the one from your first post.

Looks like someone tried to bake it into a Patrizzi dial and failed.

Can you tell me which dials this range covers, presumably the upside down 6 and the version which followed it, and roughly which years this range covers please?

Thanks

My guess would be normal oxidation but hard to tell with just one pic... at that price there are more options out there

Yes. The gloss on the dial, lacquer or whatever it is, has deteriorated. It happens. I don't see any evidence which indicates the dial was baked or chemically altered.

Lighting is odd... can you request a daylight photo? Price sounds ambitious, but given the market today...

What serial is this watch? This appears to be a MK 3, but the fonts look off, particularly the sub-dials.

Just so you know, the 16520 dial has a thin layer of clear lacquer, and it appears that the lacquer has bubbled up on this particular watch.

Good to know, thank you ! About this detoriation, is it a "normal" detoriation or it shows an issue of waterproof, etc...
