If the intense heat of Dubai could ruin my Rolex, then I'd be done with the brand. These watches were used in militaries across the world. Durability and Reliability are some of the biggest reasons why Rolex has such a high reputation.

You can beat the heck out of that thing in sand, snow, rain, ocean, lava, acid, fire and it’ll still
Be ok. Don’t worry

Congratulations! You are now the owner of one of the best all-around travel watches around. Enjoy it to the fullest. Personally, I have taken my BLNR on many trips... it’s seen sun, sand, pools, snorkelling, and even diving to 90 feet. No worries, no prolems. Just make sure, as others have said, you give it a good rinse after being in ocean to get off the salt and sand, and enjoy!

It’s a tough, beautiful, functional watch, built for exactly the kinds of things you likely have planned.

Cheers

Ross

To the OP

It will be fine. Enjoy wearing it.

Just don't take it into the sea if you ever go to Talacre or Rhyl

Sorry.... Local joke there.

My hairdresser (girl) said she was going to Talacre for her holidays and her friend asked if it was a Greek island.

"Hey guys I just purchased a car - is it OK if I drive it to work or should I leave it shaded in my garage"
So, do you know the Vickers Hardness Number for 904L?

The watch will be absolutely fine. There is nothing a holiday can do to harm it in any way, shape or form. Wear it, enjoy it, and as others have said, just rinse it off if you're spending time in the sea.

I’d be way more worried about being caught with a box of cold and flu medication or headache tablets with a bit of codeine in them. That’s jail time if caught. Yes a safe city but their laws are nothing like ours.

A young guy got swab tested for narcotics (his bag) and it came up positive for opiates. Turns out he had eaten a poppy seed bagel. He saw some lock up time.

Google “Dubai medications”. Your watch will be fine. Travel safely.

If it is not safe for a watch then it is most certainly not safe for the person wearing it ...

Dubai is luxury Walhalla, use some common sense please.

I had my 16700 pepsi GMT on a Holy land tour last year (Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Dubai). The only person that notice the watch was a store staff at a Dubai Gold Souk store. I was asked if I want to sell the watch. I politely said no.

I don't need to know it just as I do not need to know I have to rinse it after having been in salty water. It's called commen sense but people seem to lose if when they buy a Rolex. First world problems.

Last week I upgraded to a GMT Master II 116710LN and this will be my one and only watch.
Will be wearing this one to Dubai in 2 weeks time for a vacation, so a lot of sunbathing and swimming.
Will the intense sun and salt from the sea be ok for the watch?
Being that this is my first watch that I have spent 4 figures on I seem to want to baby it more than I did the Seiko.
Rolex 904L steel is corrosive resistance and the most Rolexes 100m water resistant. your watch will be fine! That's what the watch is engineered to do!

Don't need to baby it!

Also, it's a little bit of a stretch to say the watch was "made" for ocean swimming under the sun. A car is made to drive, a watch is made to tell time. Is it so "ridiculous" for a first time buyer spending close to 10k to be extra careful?
I agree. The unnecessary harshness and sarcasm toward new members/owners defeats the purpose of this forum and is just plain rude.

The GMT Master II, and most Rolex for that matter, are really durable watches. Much less sensitive than many thin skinned people.

Have a great time, and even wear it in a hot tub if needed.

Really wish that these old advertisements were still published. IMHO they really did a great job of promoting Rolex.
