Yep - not gonna lie. I would have never considered a 'Vette until the C8. Maybe it's the AZN in me.

Now I'm online listening to the Z06 version
Chevy really got it right with the C8.

And the M's - we'll see if we can break that 20 year streak... fingers crossed.
Enjoy that beautiful new ride and keep your kiddo smiling,

Flew up to Atlanta early Saturday morning to pick up our C8, and it is everything I could have wanted and more. Don't have the funds for an exotic, but this more than meets our needs - and it's paid off too, so it's all ours.

2LT hardtop convertible, GT2 seats. No side shots until the Vossen HF-5's are installed tomorrow, though I couldn't wait to share with you guys.

Grabbed lunch with a few other C8 folks before the 9 hour drive home on Saturday, and took our son for a ride on Sunday. "Dad, my face won't stop smiling"...that alone made it all worth it. More pics to come once the wheel are on!

That is absolutely stunning enjoy my friend

Thanks! I'm assuming you mean my build specifically, and not the C8.

I went 2LT, GT2 seats with the hardtop-convertible option. At 7k or so, it felt like a necessary step up for our FL / CA family, especially when compared to what a convertible premium usually is for cars like this. Carbon Flash roof and nacelles at $1400 was also a must for me...it just looks cool.

I skipped the Z51 package, as 1.) I don't like the look of the rear with the spoiler and 2.) I'm not tracking this car. So with that being said, the cost / benefit just wasn't there for me to add it.

All in, it came out to 85k after taxes / fees, which to be quite honest, feels like a steal (if you can call it that). I just don't see any competition at that price point. If I want to go mid-engine, I'd have to go 150k+ for the NSX / R8 or anything truly exotic. They have the Cayman listed as a competitor, but I don't buy that - the Cayman is FAR from my list, personally. I'm a huge 911 fan, but again, it's way above the price here.

So all in all, the C8 is just a killer looking car IMO with performance to match. I know the Corvette purists don't love it, but I was never a Corvette fan before this. Now, I'm a Corvette guy for life.

Now you also have the issues of a cooler climate in Monterey as well.

When I bought my Jeep in 2005 I could get a hardtop or soft. In LA I had a soft top with the top off 6 months of the year.

In northern CA it seems either too hot or too cold for a convertible that you can’t quickly change out. Inland can be 20 -30 degrees more than the coast and you could also leave home at 85 and when you return at 5 PM, the marine layer could show up and be down to 65.

Don't disagree with you!

That's why the hardtop convertible option was a must - hot or cold, I can get the top up in 10 -15 seconds. Plus, the roof doesn't take up trunk space like the coupe roof does.

Wow, that seems to be a great deal. I imagined these would cost quite a bit more. Good play.

I’ve driven the pacific coast highway many times over the years … this would be a great car to trip in with the family - well I guess maybe you and one of your family

I think if that little guy has any say in the matter, mom could be sitting at home a lot.

Haha, he definitely wins - and mom usually allows it. These kiddos are spoiled.

Thank you for this detailed answer. It's a car we virtually never see in Europe, hence my question. Enjoy it in good health!

Love it! The HTC is definitely the way to go - I think the nacelles make it look even better. I don't know to see the engine to know it's back there!
