Sell multiple watches to fund a 5167A-001

Like many others, I have been eyeing a 5167A-001 Aquanaut. However, it won't happen through an AD. The thought of paying secondary prices is a bit much, but I am considering consolidating my collection a bit to fund one. You never know what the market will bring, but if the trend continues, I believe the Aquanaut will be permanently out of reach for me, much like the Nautilus is now. I am in scrubs or casual wear 99% of the time and I think the watch would get plenty of use.

My question is this, would you sell a 14060m submariner 2-liner, 16520 Daytona (Zenith movement), and a 216570 Explorer ii polar to mostly fund the purchase?

Current collection also includes a YM42 (perhaps a bit redundant), Explorer (39mm), Grand Seiko Skyflake, JLC Reverso Duoface, Omega SMP 300M, and Pepsi on Jubilee.

Thanks in advance.

Difficult question to answer. At the end of the day only you know how much you like this watch and if this is really the piece you want then go for it! This hobby is about enjoying and be excited by what we have on the wrist.

I am all in favor of consolidating to up the game watch and am thinking about doing it myself.

However given current prices, I don't believe the 5167 is a good deal. It's not enough watch for the money imho.

Personally no, not a chance, and I say that as someone who bought a YM42 when my Aquanaut dream finally died.

Perhaps I need to get over the Aquanaut. Would really love to have one but the prices are insane. Thanks for the reply.

I also have a YM42 and LOVE it. The aquanaut has a different charm to me and if I were ever lucky enough to land one, I'd have to hold onto the YM42. It is an amazing watch.

If you can find a way to get the 5167 without selling the Zenith Daytona, then I would be more encouraging for you to go ahead with the deal. Otherwise you are going to regret it later on for letting go of the 16520. Even if I have an Aquanaut now, every single time I still look for an opportunity to add a 16520, doesn't matter black or white.

Daytona with Zenith? No way! 5167 is not worth the hype in my opinion. It's a 30K watch tops. I get the hype but one of the most overvalued watches out there. 5164 is the play, but I still wouldn't give up the Zenith/Daytona.

I would do the trade for sure, no hesitation.

Agree that the 5164 (preferably the 5968) would be better, but they are astronomical on the secondary and it seems impossible to get worked into a list for any Aquanaut at retail. I am on a list (probably 2-3 years) for the 5212a which is a great watch. Perhaps need to set my Aquanaut hopes for my next decade...
