Is this considered a "vintage" now?

Figure most recent serials are in the 6 digit range, I wonder if my A serial 16520 Zenith from 1999 can be considered a "vintage" now?

Either way, loving this classic bird with the brushed lugs and more attractive sub dial color and thin markers. Yes, the Zenith El-Primero movement is a nice touch too

Great watch regardless of yes or no on the "vintage" issue. I need to get one of those.

Classic, certainly; collectible, absolutely; vintage, perhaps not yet.

Don't care if its vintage. Absolutely love that watch. As soon as I find nice clean full set it's must have for me.

Love my Zenith Daytona. Certainly feels and wears vintage but probably need a few more years before most would consider it vintage.

No tritium = not vintage.

But that being said, anyone owning a stainless Daytona with the Zenith El Primero movement owns an iconic, timeless Rolex. Wear it in good health!

Hard to find (check)
Rising in price monthly (check)
Iconic design (check)
Previous model is astronically expensive (check)
Tritium on most models (check)
Well know dial variations (check)

As a proud owner of a tritium unpolished 16528.....I would say "YES"

For me, YES. While I'm not sure I'd classify the luminova examples as vintage, I wouldn't hesitate to classify the earlier tritium examples as vintage. They are two generations old and crisp examples are few and far between.

This thread makes me regret selling my pair of unpolished and full set 16520's

Can anyone identify another 16 year old item that is considered vintage?

Chaps

Come along get real, no one can call a 17 years old watch vintage.

Would you call a 17yrs old girl vintage ?

Total misuse of the world

Regards

Mick (who own a 16 years old 16520 and considers it modern)

I agree with you, Mick. It's not vintage yet (albeit, it is a fantastic watch).

1999 - vintage? Nah! Nice though.

Edit: Here's a 'rule of thumb' which could be applied:

If you need to ask; it isn't.

In my opinion, the plastic crystal stuff is vintage. The early sapphire stuff is like nirvana and radiohead. That's not classic rock but it's still great!

The neo-vintage 16520 against the modern day rendition.

agreed. the OP has an interesting model but aside from the sapphire i'm not sure how anyone could regard a watch with an SEL band as vintage
