First Rolex Tips?

Good Afternoon everyone(PST),

This past weekend I purchased my first Rolex, 116610 Sub.

I just wanted to know what tips you can offer to a first timer.

Anything would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Make sure you wear it a lot, take it outdoors, subs like water....subs love to go parading...& make sure you bathe it once a week.

On your pillow, and you sit next to it watching it all night.

I think you lay it on its side crown up or down, depending if it's running fast or slow....I just keep mine face up....so I can see its beautiful face!

Wear it and enjoy it and avoid accidental bangs into walls and other potentially dangerous surfaces! Congrats!

I wear mine to bed and only take it off when I go to work and shower. When I take it off, I lay it on its side on felt.

I put it on my winder at night and whenever I'm wearing another model. I wash it every couple days with a gentle car wash soap from chemical guys called super suds mixed with water. I use distilled water as a final rinse and dry with compressed air or hair dryer followed by a final wipe with a lint free cloth.

My watches are pampered.

Beware...!

...The perpetual external grin may lead to cramping. It should dissipate over the next several days.

...The internal grin?! Enjoy, cause it never goes away!

Congrats and welcome to the fraternal order of Rolex owners!

My advice? DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT THE LITTLE THINGS! They're great watches, they're tough, they're accurate, and they were designed to survive extremes. Wear it, use it, admire it, and most of all enjoy it.

I say clean it with yourself in the shower. It keeps the bracelet cleaner. Easier than doing it at some other time. Besides, you don't want to be without it that long.

Congrats on your purchase.

If you are not wearing your watch at night, placing it face up causes it to speed up, placing it on its side with the winding stem down causes it to slow down, placing it on its side with the winding stem up causes it to slow down even more.

I'm not familiar with model numbers, so I don't know whether or not your Sub has a date with the Quick Set feature. If so, don't use that feature to change the date between 8 PM and 4 AM. The gears that change the date are engaged during those times, and you don't want to interfere with them by making a manual adjustment.

Vanessa has stated that you can Quick Set at any time, so now I am unsure...?

Just wear it out by actually wearing it, not fanatically polishing like many here on the forum. Congrats, you have a quality watch that will outlast you, enjoy!
