Great review! It may just be me but I believe sometimes in the right light the way that the crystal reflects makes it almost appear as a mirror which in my opinion looks way cool with the sheen of the case and bracelet. This is JMHO. Again, great review Tom. I think I will peel the stickers off mine now and wear it lol. |

I believe that the crystal has AR coating on the inside (like Omega) and that now the magnifier is also AR coated.

Great review.....
& IMO it's a watch that looks so much better on the wrist than in photo's or when laying flat.

Congratulations Tom and thank you very much for the review. I will purchase soon the Sub C LN and your review helped me a lot.Can you please add some photos of both green and black on your wrist? Also how is the new Sub C, in terms of size compared to the old?I know that this is wider, wich is more confortable to wear for a long period of time?
Thanks,Levi |

The size of the new Sub is exactly the same 40mm in diameter as the classic Sub. But on the new SubC, the lugs are wider and I think the rotatable bezel has slightly increased in diameter. Together with the maxi dial it makes the new Sub look bigger; in my opinion, it has more presence on the wrist than the classic one. The weight of the new is about 15 grams more due to the heavier case and the all solid bracelet links. However, I find it very comfortable for daily wear, it sits perfect on the wrist once you have adjusted the bracelet to your wrist size. Some more wristshots, as requested: SubLV-1.jpg IMG_0012.jpg img0023e.jpg Owning both now, black and green, I have to say that the green is beautiful, especially the dial, but it is my watch for exeptional wear, just to have something different. The black Sub is more serious and present, and it combines well with different outfits, so it is my clear preference for daily wear. Kind regards Tom |

Got my Sub C and I'm speechless or should I say my Jaw dropped when I open the box, never seen on in the flesh, only the SS with Green dial, TT version and solid gold version. I guess love at first sight!!

Nice review, I enjoyed it very much! Regarding the precision, I am currently making the observations you described: My GMT II C started slightly negative when I bought it in May, now it is VERY slightly positive.
Enjoy your Sub in good health! |

I have had the LV (Green) for about a month and rotate it with the GMTIIC and love both. Tough call, but I think the Sub wins. Great watch. Great review.

Tom, I went through some of the same thoughts you had when I initially purchased my BLK Sub C with two-tone. After having it now for a month, this is one beautiful watch! Having previously owned a Sub Blue two-tone, there is no comparison. The changes are truly outstanding! I find myself wearing it during all my waking hours...

Dear friends,
first at all: many thanks for your friendly and helpful comments! It was my pleasure to write this little review on the new SubC, and after some months now, wearing it almost daily, I can only say: THIS IS ONE GREAT WATCH! True Rolex Submariner heritage, the combination of modern and classic, with many real improvements! Wear it, and you will believe it.... Have an excellent time all together Tom |

Excellent review. Tried one on the wrist today and it was the watch for me. Put the exp ii to shame IMHO. It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

A very good appraisal of the new Sub, which is a good looking watch without a doubt, well made to boot. One thing you brought attention to was the bezel, saying it was good but couldn't see why they changed from the aluminium. Myself and various TRF members including Padi56(very knowledgeable) also thinks it is pure marketing hype.

I had a chance to try one of these on at my local dealer but really wanted the LV. I love the new design (especially the bracelet) but I wanted something that was a little more different from what I've had (have had Subs for the last 20 plus years).
So I went with a the GV Milgauss. I know I'll have another Sub one day though... just a matter of time (pun intended?). -Mike. |

I am a new member of TRF and have never had a Rolex in my life. I own a few German watches including the SINN U1000, 2 x Stefan Koduke, Jochen Benzinger, MeisterSinger, 2 x Alexander Shorokhoff and Sothis, as well as a Chronoswiss, Alpina and Jaeger LeCoultre. I always thought that Rolex is too old for me, and I'm 45-50 years of age. At present I am vacationing in the Bermuda Island and today it happened that I went into a Rolex AD. Then I tried on the new green Sub-C (116610LV). It was the most amazing, eye-catching watch I have ever seen (and worn on my wrist). I couldn't decide if I should buy it or not at that time. So I went back to the hotel and did some googling with it. Of course, you guys are on the found list, starting with Tom's excellent review. Since there is no sales tax in Bermuda, list price from this particular AD of U$7470 sounds a terrific deal. However, my concern is I am from Toronto, Canada, which means I will get taxed by Canada Customs when I return to my homeland. I believe duty and taxes are 20% altogether for this watch. Would you guys still consider it a great buy even with the heavy tax? Many thanks to any of your comments. Peter |
