What are your thoughts? I'm in the correct timeframe for a gilt dial, but with my retrofitted 1970s "radial" dial I cannot know what was originally on the watch.

Would that be heresy to do the swap? I sure would have gone through with it! It was even beginning to show a touch of tropical brown.
Serial before 16xx xxx should have gilt for sure to begin with. Even trade from a matte dial would be considered as an amazing trade if they were in the same condition.

Here's my '70 on a Maratac OD green strap. I'm presently wearing it on the original C&I Oyster rivet bracelet...

Here is my recent Rolex, a 1977 Ref 1675 "Chocolate" in 14K & Stainless Steel. I have the original Jubilee bracelet for it, but I prefer leather.

Love GMT in any variant!!

A recent addition to my stable: Ref 1675, 1966 vintage, gilt & small arrow 24 hour hand. A bit faded bezel completes the picture. Jubilee bracelet not original of this watch, which came with a leather strap, but love Jubilees on GMT though not correct for the period.

Kind regards, Abel.

Wow Abel! I'd give up my gilt for that one any day, it's in fantastic shape.

Hello Kyle! My young friend!
Nice to read you! I wish youŽll have a wonderful New Year with your family!
Glad you like it. IŽm very happy, with this one, which was my last purchase of 2011, a few days before the 31st of December.
You got a great watch too, and I wish I could show mine with those super photos you always take!

2011 was a GMT year for me! Got this 6542 in November. Hope you like it too:

Have a great Year my young friend! And receive my best cordial regards, Abel.

Here is a preview of my latest GMT 1675 acquisition. I'll be doing a thread on it in the near future. This GMT was received from the original owner and has never been polished or serviced. Stay tuned. Wears the original dial, bezel insert, band and hands. (The hands appear much whiter in the pics than they are and the dial plots appear more yellow than they are. This seems to happen to me often with my photos.) The pic with it on my wrist is after I cleaned it up and polished the crystal last night.
