116710LN vs 126710GRNR

Hi,

Can i ask if there is a difference in the appearance of the bezel and dial between the discontinued 116710LN and the newest 126710GRNR?

Thank you in advance for the answers.

Yes, old one is all black and the new one is grey and black.

LN = Black, GRNR = Grey and Black

The bezel insert on the 126710GRNR is grey and black (hence the "GRNR" - Gris Noir) while the 116710LN's bezel insert is all black ("LN" - Lunette Noir). There's probably some very VERY subtle differences on the dial (like the tiny crown at 6, etc), but essentially they look the same AFAICT.

I suspect the new GMT is going to be readily available similar to a Submariner date or the previous GMT LN.

The new hard to get one will be BLNR and you will have even less chance of getting a BLRO (my predictions).

Tbh u could have always put the LN gmt on a super jubilee. I remember someone had the batman on jubilee 10 years ago by using different sized pins.

Not a fan of anything that just came out EXCEPT black ombre dial day date

Is it really an upgrade to get a half grey bezel over a full black one on a super jubilee…?

I wanted something more classic but the grey to me isnt really what you’d call an upgrade

Just sold my Rolex GMT Master II 116710LN and constantly wondering if I made a mistake. Loved the all back ceramic GMT bezel.

Have one listed in the market place...

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=942798

Quite surprised that the GRNR is essentially just a bezel swap of the 116710LN!

I’m all for dual colored bezels but the gray and black don’t look that good together imo. Not enough contrast. I would have preferred an all black or an all gray bezel on this model. My least favorite GMT to date.

I have a feeling we'll see a lot of these on the grey market with Sprite Bezel inserts installed and sold as such

Where you going to get the Sprite Bezel from though? They would have to be thousands of $ to buy.

Yes, there are cheap aftermarkets, but they wont look the same. Who wants a crappy Chinese bezel on an $11k watch?

And i don't think we saw many ppl do that on the 116710LN, which as others have said, has the same dial and green GMT hand.

the same way people get OEM bezels now, through grey dealers, this forum, Chrono24. There are quite a few 16710LN's with Pepsi Bezels installed and being sold as a "pepsi"

Then again as long as the Sprite remains a LHD watch it'll be easy to spot that it's a modified watch

the laser etched crown at 6 is also on the 116710LN, Rolex has been doing this since 2001.

I would love to know the price on a ceramic OEM Pepsi or Sprite Bezel.

I searched this forums parts section and there have been no Pepsi or Sprite bezels listed in the last year, which is the max search.

There is one used batman for £1,800...
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ghlight=126710

I think a Sprite bezel would fetch double that, if not more.

Well remember the 16710LN & BLRO used an aluminum bezel not a ceramic and are way cheaper

The 16710 series. Completely different discussion. Easy to swap, easy to obtain the bezels. You can do that with basic tools.

You said that people will be putting the Sprite Bezel on the new 126710GRNR.

I think getting an OEM Sprite bezel will be like finding rocking horse poop. Even if you find one it will be super expensive. Add that to the cost of the new 126710GRNR and you may as well buy a Sprite, even at grey prices.

I’m talking about on the dial between the “Swiss” and “made”, not the crystal.

Correct I was comparing it to the 16710, I also said in my next post that it would be very easy to spot a modified watch in this case, as they aren't making a RHD sprite....

Also, probably slightly longer hands like on all of the current 126xxx models.

Am I the only one that wishes the new SS GRNR didnt have any green on it? Wish the text was white like the other SS GMTs, and the 24h was grey (like the other SS GMTs that match the 24h to one of the bezel colors).

I might have put myself on the list for the new GMT had it been without the green touches.

116710LN beats this new release hands down imo... it was a shame they discontinued it.
