Can you remember what started it all?

Hi all. I thought this might be a different type of thread.
Can you remember your very first watch, the one that got you into collecting watches in the first place? the one that stole your heart (and money)
Mine was the Breitling Chronomat TT which is no longer with me. That was back in 2007 and I've loved every minute of our wonderful hobby ever since.
Why not post photos and details of your first and share with us all.

A Seiko 6105. It's been a fun road since.

My first love was an Omega Seamaster 300 Chronometer, James Bonds Watch. Couldn't afford it so I ended up with a watch I regrettably sold but still love and will eventually buy again. A blue faced Tag Heuer Chronometer 6000. Beautiful watch.
In those days I always liked Rolexes but every time I picked one up, they felt cheap, rattly and fake, with the hollow links.

Received a Tag Heuer s/el from a girlfriend's dad as a gift almost 20 years ago. Turned out to be a knock-off and a joke gift but I was such a non-WIS I had no idea. When I learned it was a fake from a very sweet and tactful sales associate at jewelry store, I started researching watches so I could be more knowledgable about different brands. Never figured it would turn into a passionate hobby. I didn't keep the girlfriend but I did keep the "Tag" as a reminder of how little I once knew about watches.

Mine was a Tag Heuer Monza chronograph that I picked up about 10 years ago and still have today, although I never wear it - and I need to get it serviced. Sorry, don't have any pics atm.

Breitlings Super Ocean started everything for me in 2000.
Sold the watch about 2 years ago and still miss her. Big mistake!

I was always a watch guy but stuck mainly to Casio digital watches. My first proper watch was an Omega Speedmaster Date 3210.50.00 - a gift from my then girlfriend, now wife. It still gets a lot of wrist time as my first proper Swiss piece.

I started of with a bunch of Fossils, moved up to a Movado museum. Then I ended up buying an Omega Seamaster chrono, said to myself that's the only watch I need... That was 4 watches ago...

I started with a stainless steel Cartier Tank Solo on a black crocodile leather strap back in October last year.

However I have been extremely interested in watches for the past 2 years now.

I've always been interested in watches but my "obsession" began with these back in 2003:

All but the last one were part of a single collection I purchased. I ended up selling all of them within the year and used the proceeds to fund my watch account.

I have one the original Raymond Weil Parsifal's. Has an "A0" serial number. Bought it new in, I think it was 1995. Chrono version. Good, solid ETA movement.

Wore that watch daily for over 16 years, and was complemented on it in Monte Carlo at the Casino, amongst other places, while in tux. Will never give that watch up. Memories of travel and good times are too tied to that personal item.

First watch was probably a timex or Casio. In jr high my uncle gave me a Swiss made dive watch that I loved. Day 1 at school some guy asked to see it. As he was passing it back it fell hard on the floor. That was it. Took it to the local watch guy and he said it was dead. And not repairable.

So now we see the origins of your Omega obsession.

I've worn watches regularly for the last five years, but they wee a mix of Seikos and Citizen watches. My wife bought me my first "fine" watch for a wedding gift. She knew how much I loved my watches, and really stepped up with this one.

After the levee broke, I was selling off my affordables and looking for something else to wear every day. That watch was going to be the SMP 300. I did a ton of research, and I just knew that I had to have the "Bond" 2220.80. I've always loved the James Bond movies, and this was a perfect fit.

It's all been downhill from there.

I've always had a watch for as long as I can remember and would immediately run to the jewelry section of any department store we were visiting to look at watches. Many of the ones I had while growing up were cheap Casio's and Timex's, but the Rolex Submariner was always the watch, IMO. I set myself a goal to eventually buy one, which I did when I was 30. I had the itch but not the scratch to get the Submariner, but decided to make the jump from a Citizen to a nicer watch when I was in my mid to late-20's, so I looked at what was out there and fell in love with the 2254.50.

In 1974 received an Omega Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch for high school graduation and I still have it with original boxes, papers and manual. 861 caliber with Tritium stepped dial and super rare 1039 flat link bracelet with 516 end pieces. Had it professionally serviced recently and it runs great. This watch started my passion for watches and now I have Omegas, Breitlings and Rolexes in my collection!

The watch that started my passion for vintages was my 1968 Timex waferthin. It is currently in storage in non operational condition and is awaiting a full restoration which i plan to send it for sometime in the next year or so. It is a watch that i will absolutly never sell.

The Speedy Pro is the watch that got me hooked.

It's still my favorite watch but I don't wear it much.
