Speedmaster Professional Circa. (another ye ol' "help me date my watch" bit waster)

Ok. Start with Sorry.

I know I start this thread to the disdain of many. Yes, I've searched this forum and the web. But I give up.

My Speedy is my favorite. It is a replacement for one that went MIA from my office back when they called "IT" "Data Processing/MIS". So, I place it at mid-late 1980's.

It has a #1450 bracelet that is somewhere in my room.

Without cracking it open, can someone let me know a more specific year(s) and Cal.?

Help me, Obi-Wan Forumites. You are my only hope.

Sincere Thanks...

If it came on a 1450 bracelet then it should be around 1989-1991

I was focused on dial hieroglyphics in trying to gauge the date

Didn't know the 1450 was that short of a time window.
I read the ref. 1450 went from1980-91. http://www.omega-addict.com/reviews/bracelets/

But, I hope you are correct as your shorter time window is when I recall my purchase occurring. But I've wondered the vintage as they can sit in display windows for a bit. Driving me bonkers.

Thank you, George.

The 1450 was used throughout the 1980s and the movement would be a cal. 861. Early 80s movements were red gilt followed by yellow gilt.

Fr. John if im not mistaken the 1450 bracelet was introduced around the 88-89 period after the 1447 which was the first transition out of the 1171. Around 92 it switched over to the 1479

I do want to crack it open. Maybe that would give us some clues. Now I'm curious about the gilt as Fr. John referenced.

Pandora's box 8^0

Never been cleaned. Running 2s/24h so haven't worried about it.
Oldest watch in my small Goose gaggle.

Any dial marking clues that could help you gentlemen help me?

Concern was not torquing it back right. But, heck, I don't get this one wet anyway. That's what my Seiko Monsters are for.

Time to dig out (find) the Jaxa.

Deflowered my Speedy. Sort of. Took off the caseback, saw the inner movement cover/protector, and screwed the caseback back on.

Chickened out as I've no experience with that config and didn't think my favorite watch should be a guinea pig. So, I'm okay with the 1989-91 based on this thread's replies.
Which, I'm thankful for, George and Fr. John.

Took a pic so I could be certain the caseback hits in the original position. Bonus was that I came across the bracelet when I dug around for my case opener. Cool beans.

Thanks again. Have a wonderful Thursday.

Oh, Speedy is not my oldest. My error. The Hamilton MIL-W-46374B (on strap) is my oldest at 1982. And, my Datejust is from 1985. Didn't want to accidentally deceive. Guess I should just leave it as my Speedy would be my the one I would save in a fire.

Read that the inner housing cover I saw when I opened the caseback is the anti-mag photon phaser force shield. Anti-mag.
Is there a trick or special tool required to get that off to see the movement?

no you can either wedge something in between where it touches the movement and get it to dislodge before removing it. I just get a piece of sticky tape and put one half on and pull up. Make sure no residue is left on.
