Movement stopping and starting
Hello everyone. Long time lurker and first time posting. I have a 1 year old SMP 2220.80 coax model. today the watch just stopped working... jiggle it a bit and it would run but not smoothly, and would stop again... now its working again and keeping time like normal. I must add that this watch is worn VERY carefully and has not been bumped, banged, submerged, etc.
Should i bring it in for a check up? or wait for it to happen again?? I would think since it's mechanical the problem will probably come back, but Im not a expert in movements. I also suppose I can bring it back to my AD and have it checked... 2 yr warrant right? |

same thing happened to my SMP 2003, worked sweet for years then just randomly started stopping, a quick knock and it would start again. I'm now waiting to get it back from it's service in Bienne, Swizerland. will let you know what happens when i get it back. Yeah, if yours is still under warranty get it sent away, have you checked that the watch is fully wound when it has stopped? it was the first thing they asked me when i sent mine in.

Just bring it into an AD and have them take a look maybe time it for accuracy and amplitude. You're still within your warranty period so no worries except a possible naked wrist for a couple of months.

You didn't say how many hours a day you wear it and if you ever wind it....

X2. Sounds to me its just at the bottom of its power reserve. You need to wear an automatic watch at least 8 hours a day for it to wind properly, and I like to give mine a manual wind once a month to make sure it's working completely correctly
