Rolex losing time

My rolex is losing 3 seconds a day :( should I take it to be regulated? (It's a one year old ceramic submariner worn 24 hours a day)

It`s running within spec. so don`t worry about it unless it loses more than the current amount.

From what I've read and experienced the watch runs a little slower when the power reserve is full, faster when the reserve is low.
Take it off at night and you should find it runs perfectly. Laying it crown down rather than flat will make it gain even more I think.

As mentioned, it's within spec. My 2010 (NIB) Turn-O-Graph has been +4 from day one. Rather than risk dust, dirt, fingerprints by having the watch regulated I chose to ignore it. I've heard too many tales of minor problems occuring when casebacks are removed during service. Don't get me wrong, this likely would never happen but I firmly believe casebacks should only be opened when it's absolutely essential. (full service, mechanical failure, etc.) However, if it bugs you by all means take it in for regulation-it's your watch after all. Good luck and enjoy your Rolex.

Sure!

I do it all the time on new watches if my watch is running slow....takes just a few minutes and at no charge!

That is good news--within COSC specs.

I understand OP being concerned since I myself am also a precission kind of freak. I dont mind +3 secs but Im rather bothered by anything going into minus.. Is it realistic to expect regulating the watch to turn it from -3 into positive numbers?

like others have said youre within cosc specs so no need for worry.

just curious you never take the watch off your wrist? even when you sleep? how you place the watch, whether it be on the side, face up or face down can sometimes have an effect to gain or lose seconds.

It's fine. That's within specs. It's not a quartz watch. It's not going to keep perfect time. Enjoy it. I've never heard of any mechanical watch that doesn't lose or gain some time over a few days. 3 sec a day is nothing.

Relax! It's a mechanical watch. -3 secs/day is still amazing!

You really didn't state how you are actually came to this conclusion that it is -3 a day.

So the best way to test is to make sure you first give your watch 40 winds to top off the power reserve and wear the watch anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a day. Although your Rolex is a self wind watch, typically most people will not do enough activity to actually top off the power reserve, so giving the watch a full 40 winds every other week typically is best. The watch will run more efficiently when the power reserve is topped off.

Set the watch to an accurate time source and then check the watch after 7 days. Since position, tempature, and other things can account for accuracy, it is best to check after at least 7 days of running the watch and average your result.

However if it is -3 seconds a day this is hardly anything to worry about as it is still well within COSC. COSC is after all between -4 and +6. After 30 days your still only 90 seconds off, which is pretty amazing considering this is a mechanical and not a quartz watch.

Your watch is fine remember there are 86400 seconds in a day and your watch is now showing 99.997% accuracy try resting while of wrist flat dial up over night.

I tested my 5513 sub in various positions last year.
Here are the results:

This may not work for newer watches.

If it loses more than 4 or gains more than 6 seconds then consider taking it in....4/6 is considered normal.

When my Rolex watches reach +5/-3, if they are under warranty, I have taken them in for a regulation.

My watchmaker never gives me a problem, but he does say that he won't touch them if they are within +4/-2.

My BLNR is very close to being +5, but I'm going to give it a full year to balance out before I get it regulated, unless it gets well beyond spec.

Old threads get revived from time to time and there is usually someone on the board, whether or not they revived it, will find the information useful.

Excuse my ignorance but how in the world do you know its 3 seconds slow or fast? That seems like such a small difference
