First Rolex....Deep Sea Blue or GMT II BLNR
I had a DSSD for my first Rolex. I wore it daily for 4-5 years until I tried on a SubC. I have no idea why I wore something so thick and uncomfortable for so long. I guess I didn't know better. Anyway I have a large wrist (8"+) so size wasn't an issue but after I got the SubC the DSSD just sits in the drawer. I won't sell because it was a gift from my parents but a SubC or GMTIIc BLNR is many times more comfortable. Now my daily watch is a SD4k.

The Blnr is such a versatile and comfortable watch to wear. It looks great and wears even better. It is day 3 for me. Happy watch searching!

I have both and by far prefer the deep blue. Glidelock for the win! I can't get that perfect fit with the GMT and to me it's not as comfortable as my deep blue. I do understand people saying the deep blue is too top heavy and heavier in general and so not as comfortable. But for me this hasn't been an issue and I wear it daily and I sleep in it too.

How much is the Deep Blue? I saw one in the Bahamas that was available for sale but never asked the price. The dial is very nice.

If you prefer larger watches, then go D-Blue. As for a discount, forget it

Voting for BLNR for me....a bit biased though lol. Truth be told I don't love huge watches either, since I have a 6.6-6.75" wrist size.

Sell some stuff and buy both. Both awesome watches. Go for DEEP SEA BLUE if you can only get one.

I have both. The DBlue is a special watch but I would choose BLNR in this situation

If you plan to wear as a daily then the BLNR would be best. I was lucky enough to try a D blue on a couple of weeks ago and it's so stunning it's unbelievable.
As mentioned earlier in the thread which ever you go with you'll still lust after the other and eventually end up with it too. |

I have both. If this is your first and only one, I would recommend the BLNR, but you have to take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt. Go to the dealer and try on both yourself, and see which one suits you better.

Take the GMT. More usable everyday.
The Deep Sea is a big heavy chunk of steel.

I slightly prefer the BNLR but both would make awesome watches.

As much as I'm loving my new d blue, seems how this is your first and only u might want to go for the GMT first.....then save up and get a DSSD......although if u have your heart set on a d blue DSSD, u might want to go for one now as there is no guarantee they will still being produced a year or two from now.
On the other hand you'll be able to get a blnr at most anytime. So I guess it comes down to what your priorities are.

Hi! This is my first post as a new member. I am considering getting a used DSSD Deep Sea Challenge with the gorgeous blue dial fading to black. What are your thoughts as a first Rolex and where to buy?
