Overhauling Daytona SS 116520 or 16520 as a hobby

I'm in the market for a used Daytona SS. I have seen quite a few for sale in the forum since the new model was announced. My plan is to get a decent one for $8,200 then overhaul the movement, case and bracelet for another $800. I have no preference in the movement. I want to do this as a hobby. I'll just fix up the watch, wear it occasionally and flip it when I need money.

My concern is if the future for Daytona SS 116520 safe enough of me to support my hobby. I don't mind if I lose a few hundred on a flip since I got enjoyment out of it but don't want to lose over a thousand. I know 116520 has retain value well but the new model looks pretty solid and might drive down the demand for this model. Do you think this is a viable hobby?

This doesn't sound like a particularly good idea financially, plus there are very few daytona's to be bought under 9k despite condition.

One reputable dealer on this site actually offered a Zenith Daytona ss to me for 8.5k but it requires service on the stretched bracelet. If i buy it, I might as well send it in to Rolex RSC for a movement service and to Hong Kong for bracelet service.

There are already several Daytonas on the high 8k's / low 9k's; sounds like a good plan!
