When did GMT/EXPs go to 3185 movement?

When did the Exp IIs and GMT IIs switch over to the 3185 movement? What year Lettered Series #? What was the movement # before and what are the differences/improvements with the 3185 compared to the old? thanks.

Don`t know the exact year or letter/code for the case, but I can find out exactly when on Monday when I`m back at work.
The previous movement was the 3085.
The main differences/improvements, smoother/more efficent automatic winding.Smoother manual winding. The hairspring is laser welded to the hairspring bridle on the 3185 on the 3085 it was glued into the stud and over time it could work loose and the watch would lose drastically. The calander mechanism was improved. From a watchmakers point of view the 3185 is easier to work on.

I believe that the 3185 movement went into service in 1988.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the lettered series would be "R".
