Question for sub owners>>>>

I have 2 questions regarding the "small" security clasp that closes last on a sub bracelet.

1.) From the everyday opening of the clasp to remove the watch for the night it seems that this little security clasp has a tendency to flop over and hit the first link and cause little marks/scratches. I was wondering if other owners have experienced this and whether anyone has tried those fberglass to\ipped mark removal tools i.e. the Bergeon type to remove such marks on a brushed Rolex bracelet. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

2.) Also this little security clasp has a tendency to never stay firmly down once closed. It "pops" up a hair from general wear. It never comes undone but just never stays firmly down. There is a little play in it. Anyone experience this as well?

Thanks,
JimC

Hi Jim,

Can't help you much on the first one 'cause it's something that's inevitable and I wouldn't worry too much about it; but the second one can be rectified.

Just take it into your AD and he'll "press" the 2 sides of the little secure lock in to give you a more secure fit.

JJ

Mine was doing exactly that on the newer GMT II. I gave it a squeeze by hand and now it fits just a touch tighter.

i have a satin watch refinish pad from boston watch exchange, about
$10 on ebay. have used it sparingly to remove scuffs on my ss sub bracelet. you have to be careful to use linear movement to maintain the grain of orginal finish. but it works great.
that said, i have only used it a few times to remove noticeable (to me anyway) scuffs. you can drive yourself crazy trying to keep any daily wearer looking new, i try not to go down that path with my ocd self.

Jimb - My security clasp has a tiny bit of play too. Never noticed it until now. Doesn't really bother me... just so long as it lays flat. Larry.

Owning a Rolex is not for the OCD parts of our character. I have decided to compartmentalize my OCD'ness to extra Rolex aspects of my life, or I will go crazy trying to keep it pristine. It is a tool watch, and so I am just wearig it. It will look good long after I am gone.

Although an early owner, I decided on Arturo's approach when I first opened the box. I wear my Sub every day and I don't spare it anything. A few marks will give it character, and when it comes back from its first service in 4-5 years time they will all be gone and it will look like a new watch. Most of us have a touch of OCD or we wouldn't be fascinated with these little works of art, but if applied to a daily wear, it might become consuming.
