Cost of servicing the SD?

Hi guys,

I know it's a bit early for me to worry about the servicing of my new SD , but just out of curiosity, has anyone had a full RSC service carried out on their SD and could you tell us how much it cost?

I believe the replacement of the He valve (mandatory, I believe) and heavy-duty caseback gasket does boost up the servicing cost considerably.

Any thoughts (and no wiseass cracks please!!)

Cheers - JJ

Ironically, NEVER!!

The longest I've ever had a Rolex was my very first one purchased in 1980 and then sold in 1990. Never serviced it....worked like a bloody horse!!

After that, it's been flip, flip all the way.

My question was more out of curiosity, but I sincerely hope (and keep vowing to myself) that I can hold on to this SD for the rest of my life!!

I had my SD serviced by RSC Bexley last year - total cost was £210. Excellent service and superb finish (better than the orginal factory finish). I doubt though that this is something you need to worry about - during the last year whilst I have been logging on to the forum you have owned no less than 4 different watches!!!

Cart before the horse? How about the cart is in outer space and the horse is long dead and buried. Don't worry about service JJ, the third or fourth owner of that watch can take care of that. :-)

You should be trying to encourage me to keep it, Daren.

Zemina is going ballistic. She likes it when I buy a new one, but hates it when I sell!!

Andie has just stopped paying attention. I have another coming tomorrow. One that is totally out of left field and a brand that I have not owned much. Not sure of the staying power, but like all of them, I buy with the intention of it sticking.

Nah, lower end. A very popular watch, not as often seen as the submariner I don't believe though.

It will be here in less than 12 hours.

Well JJ last time I had mine serviced in the UK the sub was £180 and SD was £190 but that was a few years back now.But agree with others would seriously doubt if you have it long enough to service.

RSC in San Fran sez about $100 more than a standard Sub on the SD service, JJ. While my preferred watch maker (in the gift center) charges $50 more than for a standard sport Rolex.

In case you keep it long enough...
