I have never been in AD where the sales person didn't say there was price increase coming. According Mayors there was going to be about 4 increases last year.

Firstly, we all know that Rolex don't tell anyone anything. Secondly, we know AD's use this as a sales tactic, and who can blame them. Thirdly, who cares about 5%.

I love price increase rumors! This is how I manage to convince my wife that I really need to buy a brand new Sub before the coming price increase. Hehehe it worked! This is even after i just bought me a custom 1911 that cost me 5k. another way to justify another Rolex purchase asap. Lol

What kind of 1911? A buddy of mine just got a really nice one (not 5k though) and I can't wait to try it out and see if that'll be my next purchase!

Most outside the US won't know what they're talking about. Still, it's against the rules so better put a lid on it.

I was actually told that effective Feb 1, 2014 AD's have had their margins reduced by a few % to reduce discounts on the timepieces, but that there is no price increases scheduled for q1 or q2 2014.

They already did that last year. Lowered dealer cost from list price less 40% to 37.5% and no more extra 2% for paying in full within 30 days.

Only Rolex decides based on sales and left over stock numbers

Over stock doesn't exist in the Rolex economy, besides the super exotic sugar / PT models. Almost all the rest is moved into grey, in any given country it works that way due to the ambitious sales targets given by Geneva headquarters.

Interesting that most of the cars that I looked at 10 years ago are around the same prices now with their current models.

At this rate, will a steel Sub-C cost more than a 3-Series in 20 years?
