You'll end up with both anyway so just buy whichever you can find first Seriously though, depending on your attire of course, you might find the BLNR more versatile. Good luck.

As your first Rolex I would recommend BLNR. Having said that I don't own BLNR but I own D-Blue. Hope that make sense.

I don't think any in this thread has mentioned this; you might not like the way of setting the date in the GMT being as a non-quickset! You would have to turn the crown and rotate the hands over and over until you reach the correct date. You'll need to this every month where there is no 31!

As a first Rolex, I would say SubC, or SD4000; DSSD if you have a large wrist and watch weight isn't an issue, IMHO.

Well, the jump hour feature isn't as fast as a true quickset, but it's not as if the watch is like the older 1675.

BLNR! But also because I own one and my puny 6" wrist simply cannot pull off a dssd. :p

I like them both. I tried on the DSSD Blue a few weeks back and I found it to be beautiful and quite comfortable. I have a 6.5" wrist so I was expecting it to be huge on me but it wasn't too bad.

BLNR if it will be your only piece as it more readily lends itself to daily wear with suits and casual wear on the weekends. I've had a couple of DSSD's and flipped them, recently acquiring a Deep Blue which is strictly a weekend watch.

I have the BLNR as my daily wear watch....although I also am not over-excited about the PCL's, so I put a 97200 (Sub C) bracelet on the watch and now it's the PERFECT watch IMHO.

Best of luck choosing mate - neither is the wrong choice as I'm sure you'll eventually have both!!

There are only 5 months less than 31 days in a year. It is really fast (within 3 seconds) to turn the crown to move GMT hand over one round (24 hours). So I think it is not a burden (but a fun for me) to adjust it every other month. IMHO.

If it's your one and only Rolex, get the BLNR. Like another poster above, I own the D-blue and not the BLNR, but I own several other 40mm sports models, which I like as daily wearers.

I prefer the D Blue, but as a first Rolex would say BLNR.

BLNR mainly due to comfort. I am seeing lots of folks flipping DSSDs. However, my wrist is 6.75 inch so I would never attempt to even consider a DSSD. For me it would be too large and uncomfortable.

thanks for all the comments. I have a 7.5" wrist so don't think the fitment and weight of the Deep Sea is an issue. I am going to try and check one out this weekend and see it in person, and hopefully compare to the BLNR side by side.

BLNR, DSDD D BLUE is great but first one is more versatile and suitable for daily usage. I have decided to nuy buy DEEP SEA because of no availability for polished center links

My first Rolex... BLNR. I got a discount from an AD on it as well...

Do you have a relationship with any particular AD? If not trusted sellers here are always a great option. Will be looking here for my next. I just wanted the AD experience for my first.
