I felt the same way with regard to steel rolex's they felt very light compared to my Panerai's and other brands especially the 5 digit steel models.

Now, I love them but when you come from AP on bracelet or Panerai the weight is a big tell. Rolex's are fairly light unless you buy in precious metal.

Weight by itself doesn't show quality indeed.

I'll be rotating a Sub C Date with an Omega DSOTM (fully made of Zirconium Dioxide ceramic and VERY light) and it will be interesting to compare them in terms of weight and corresponding feeling. The Sub will be a lot heavier but it was actually cheaper.

OP, if you didn't like cheap and super light BLNR, replace the "BLNR" in the title of your thread with "majority of Rolexes" and move on.

You are welcome. I added these pictures to anther thread as well that has more pictures of others doing the same.

Note that both Daytona and Exp are my wife's and they are both missing a link (or two, I can't remember, but same number of linkes.)

Also my 16613LB has an extra link added to it, so it is slightly more than the orig number of links.

Great reply, Faz! OP, go with what feels right to you. If you can't justify $9k for the BLNR, throw that $ into a PM piece.

My experience was actually the other way around. I couldn't understand all the hype around the BLNR. But once I saw it at the boutique and held it, I had to have it. Never regretted it.

But as many have said in this thread, if heft is important to you, go for the DSSD or any PM rolex.

There's always the Musk MR2129. It's about 1.6Lbs. Might be hefty enough...

I've had the BLNR for two months now and I love it. So much that my LVc always comes up second best although I love that too. I've owned the LN GMT in the past also and sold it in a week as it wasn't for me. Amazing what a splash of blue can do and it's not even my favourite colour!

I agree, when I was choosing between my first Rolex, it came was between a 116610LN and a 116710LN; the GMT felt and wore slightly smaller than the Sub.

If you like the way it looks then that should be most important alongside the quality and craftmeanship of the watch.

I got one just a few months after it was released, and I didn't dislike mine, but it wasn't the lovefest for me that it seems to be for so many around here. I punted it to maintain my self-imposed 15 watch limit and replaced it with a white Daytona C, and don't miss the BLNR in the least. It was plenty hefty for me, beautifully made, and kept phenomenal time, but I just didn't love it. I chose to get rid of it over my other 6-digit Rolex's, a polar Exp II and Z-blue Milgauss, or any of my vintage pieces or Tudors. I just never got used to the maxi case and the boxy "shoulders" and awkward transition from the lugs to the bracelet. I bought my first Rolex in 1986 though, so I'm just so used to the classic proportions that my watches have always had, and the BLNR was just "off" for me. I still admire it in pics, but I found it underwhelming on the wrist. To each his own, and it's an amazing piece, just not for me.

Within a period of one year I owned a BLNR, YMII-SS, AP Diver and PAM 422. Every time I put on the BLNR it felt small. I sold it. Big mistake.

The AP went bye bye quickly as it kept awful time and you have to be very careful with the bezel. The YMII-SS is a great weekend watch but is rather hefty. Same for the 422.

I bought a second BLNR and now it's my one and only. It's neither cheap feeling nor overly light IMHO. Just a terrific every day piece that is quite versatile. I can wear it to play golf, to the beach or to work. The BLNR is a winner.

That said, I do miss the YMII a lot. Big, quirky, loud, hard to read, and one helluva cool piece. Will re-acquire that baby one day for sure. I just won't wear a heavy watch for everyday use.

Show an equal condition BLNR- GMTc LN with a
2800 dollar difference ? Or show me a decent 116710LN for for 5800.00
