Went To My Local AD Today ...

While in Scarsdale today, I stopped in to my favorite AD, Wilson & Son, to get my wife's ring steam cleaned, to drool at the Rolexes on display, and to talk watches with Mike and Matt Wilson. As we were waiting for my wife's ring, they offered to put my Sub bracelet in the ultra sonic cleaner and did a great job. I then gravitated toward the Tudor display and have fallen hard for the Blue Titanium Pelagos. Tried on the Black Bay Bronze, the new Tudor Chrono, and even a Sub 43, but that Pelagos keeps calling my name. It's light as a feather and looks awesome. Any thoughts on the Pelagos, good or bad, would be appreciated. Is resistance futile?

Great watch. Very comfortable. Best lume in the biz. Very accurate movement.

I would prefer the dial to be a few shades darker but other than that, a winner.

Lots of people have said good things about it, and the spring in the clasp is a fantastic feature IMO. My boss wears his in rotation and he too loves it, even among his Breguets, various Rolex pieces, etc.

I like the Pelagos a lot. I had one but ended up getting rid of it as I felt it sat a little too tall for my taste. Other than that I feel it's one heck of a value. Treat yourself!!

Owned it and flipped it fast. You know the good. The bad for me.......Bits on the dial make it look legoish. Rotor sound (swishing) is annoying. Think it's the titanium that makes it so audible.

I'm kind of a serial flipper. I'll keep a watch for a while and then just flip. For the cost I shouldn't have flipped it. The lume is so great.

I've been doing a lot of research on this watch and it seems like a really good watch for its price. The only negative for me is the thickness. It is an amazing watch though.

The thickness didn't bother me but I wore a DSSD from sept 2008 until I got my AP and SubC. Once I started wearing the Sub C the DSSD has probably been worn 5x a year at most but it was my graduation gift and I could never get rid of it.

I'm sure the thickness wouldn't bother me as much as time goes by. Does your Sub get more wrist time than your AP?

I actually no longer have my AP ROO. My SubC is the best watch I've owned. I'm considering a Rose gold AP ROO PP Nautilus and a YG Blue sub in a week or so. But as far as versatility ruggedness and just a workhorse. That and the GMTc could be a daily watch easily forever.

They had one, and weren't certain if they were going to keep it for positerity (as the very first one in) or sell it.

I'm so torn on the Pelagos. I tried it on next to a SubC one day and the dial and bezel just looked very plasticky and cheap. I do like the modern look but the dial texture just doesn't work for me.

I'm also looking at the Tudor BB Bronze. Any thoughts on that as compared to the Pelagos?

Best salesman scam ever invented, on par with "he'll take your trade in around the corner for an appraisal"

I bought my own ultrasonic & saved lots of $$ by not getting trapped inside boutiques

The good news is that these guys are not only friends, but are honest as the day is long. No ulterior motive on their part, just providing great service and one of the best ADs around.

Didn't say they were dodgy, just being great sales people

Good you've got old-school good service up where you are. Down here ADs are too fixated on the hoards of mainland Chinese tourists passing thru to care much about building long term relationships with locals.
