Thinking of picking up my first Seiko?

What would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Help me out with a few requirements or we could be here forever.

They have a huge range.

Turtle for sport, Cocktail Time for dress. Good places to start.

You can not go wrong with a Seiko and I would start with a diver. I like them all. You should be able to come in in the $275-400 range for a non-LE. I would consider a bracelet first as you can add the rubber strap for $35 if one does not come with it.

Turtle or Samurai. I like the Seiko rubber, then look to Strapcode or Uncle Seiko for a new bracelet or rubber strap.

Same suggestions as above. The Turtles are a great value. Have to agree on the Strapcode bracelets too. The OEM bracelets on Turtles are high quality but their pin and collar adjustments are a real PIA.

Thanks to everyone for their comments or suggestions -- Part of my struggle is that have an existing 10 watch collection that spans from dress to sport so I have all my bases covered (e.g. Patek, AP, Rolex) but it looks like I headed to adding a Seiko watch to the collection

I have been spending time looking at Grand Seikos -- GMT functionality is nice; Spring Drive is nice; I prefer them the GSs on a strap. -- If I get a GS, will be more of a work watch. Is there a quintessential GS? Price range does not come into play but I wouldn't be looking to add a platinum special edition GS

I have also been spending time looking at Prospexs/Turtles, Tunas, I haven't looked at the Samurai -- I tend to like this grouping with a rubber strap. Size to be less than 44mm - this would just be a weekend fun watch.

Maybe add one of each? Sorry I am rambling.....the addiction is real

Thanks again for everyone's thoughts.

Macy's has the SRP777 on sale for $297, MSRP is $495. That would be a good one to get.

I’ve recently gotten on the GS path, they are that nice! For a non-LE GMT on a strap, I really like the 221, and it is on the short list for my next watch.

Yes those are beautiful. Much nicer in person than in that picture. The case finishing is amazing.

I'll try to answer. If it's a GS, the most iconic of all is the snowflake springdrive. As a daily, can't go wrong with that. Super light / comfy and its accuracy is without peer.

If it's a Seiko like those you mentioned, just go down to a Seiko store and tried them out and see what sings to you. They are fun watches and in most cases, cost less than a family night out so I won't need to think deeply if I were you.

Be careful though. Seiko is a slippery slope. So easy to get hooked and addicted.

Go unmolested vintage...(that's a fun challenge in and of itself). Find an unmolested Pogue or 6105-8110. Maybe Kaume? Lots of cool character in the vintage seiko world but some cool new options too like the Turtles and Samurais. I thought the Marine Master would be too big for my 6.5 wrists based on the dimensions but it wears much smaller. It just sits very high. Fantastic watch though and the SDDX017 can still be found for around $2,000

Good choice. All GS have mesmerizing dials. At least the GS i have seen.

There are a number more variants with a similar dial pattern.

Wont go wrong with a GS. Any.

i just picked this up and enjoying it quite a lot.
still figuring out bracelet vs strap (this version of the omega strap helps to close the big gap left when using a traditional flat/straight lug-end strap).
