Bahama trip which rolex?

Heading to Nassau, Bahamas in January 2024 should I be scared on wearing a rolex? Which one should I wear? Daydate 40 rose gold olive or gmtii pepsi meteorite dial. Any ideas?

Neither of those … too much bling for the island.

If you’re wanting to go Rolex … Submariner ?

Insure and take both. GMT for the day time, DD for the evenings. When I go to the Bahamas I always take several watches, no issues at all in the resorts.

First off congrats on some great pieces! For me, I’d rather wear a non-Rolex / non-expensive dive watch you can beat up on the beach with reckless abandon. If you’re dead set on wearing one of those two I’d go with the GMT.

Post pics from your trip once you get back!

When I travel I don't care what time it is back home, but I do tend to lose track of the days when travelling, so I wear a Grand Seiko DD or Seiko Diver with Day/Date function so I know how long I have left. Maybe something like that would work for you if you're a bit anxious.

I had the pleasure of periodic work in the Bahamas. I would not wear anything beyond a $20 Casio DayDate.

I’m sure you have plenty of good years left Adam.

Was JUST there, the Submariner is best imho. The ones you posted might be a bit 'much' imho. The port area is now relatively safe and they've done a really nice job with the new buildings / area by the port.

It’s a calculated risk to wear any nice watch over there. Your overall risk is probably low, but definitely increased whenever you wear a expensive piece of jewelry like the two watches you’re considering. Is the increased risk worth it to me?? No.

However, I’m not you, and you can make your own decisions. Enjoy your trip, and post some pics.

While I don;t have any specific info on the "risk assessment" there, I agree the 2 you show are very blingy and eye catching. A sub, explorer, or standard GMT flies a little better under the radar. Way under the radar would be a non-rolex "beater'.

The Submariner is always my number one travel watch for a host of reasons besides less in your face wealth.

This is the reason I purchased a Hamilton Field Watch. It's a great travel watch.
In fact, sometimes I'll get really crazy and travel with the Hamilton and the Casio Oak, with zero wories.

Just because you can, does not mean you should. Leave them at home, get a Seiko Diver or a G-Shock and focus on your trip and not concerns about safety because of your watches.

Personally I wear a nice watch everywhere. Was in Afghanistan last week. My belief re those concerned is that if you’re fearful of watch theft, don’t go there yourself or take your family. Easy!

Wear a Seiko Diver, and not an expensive one. I’d wear my least favorite SKX, for obvious reasons.

Id wear the Pepsi!
Id also take a GShock in case you are going anywhere you'd be uncomfortable wearing the PM watch

If it's concerning enough to post "is it safe," just buy a g-shock and enjoy your trip.

if you will be at a resort youre fine. I wear mine there. They have a rolex store at each resort.

Your watches, although nice, pale in comparison to some of the pieces people wear at Bahamar.
Wear the pepsi, its more versatile
