Bodyguards

Anyone here have a bodyguard or security detail? Seriously.

My friend was just assigned one as he does some contract work for another country. Apparently it’s quite common and I won’t mention where he’s assigned.

No but I see them around sometimes. Corporations, governments, and private individuals all hire them, and it’s becoming more common as the world becomes more dangerous. All the families I know with such details did not have them 10 years ago.

As I read more on it I’m not surprised.

Don't be shy, Chewy - we all know it's Canada. Incredibly dangerous up in those parts...

My neighbor arranges such things for various destinations, especially the 'more challenging' ones. You need a price?

I and some friends have hired such help for our all-out weekends away in the sin city or in places where we could get in trouble like Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Poor guys were babysitting us in the clubs and parties. The best thing we did it turned out.

Nicholas - hired "help" in Las Vegas until the wee hours of the night...only one thing comes to mind there.

Don't worry, we won't tell any of the wives.

We used to be assigned one to and from Manila to an undisclosed location. For Sr. leadership, it was like a motorcade.

Have one? No. I did go through quite a bit of training to become certified to be one though, lol. I thought that is what my future held post Marine days, it lost it's luster, so to speak, the more thought I gave it.

Hummm? All the contractors I know wear hard hats, fluorescent safety vests, safety glasses and steel toe boots. No Bodyguards...

Entertain me?

There is a certain family meeting coming up at which particular siblings may ask me to share.

After I tell them that sharing is something you do with your bag lunch on a school field trip, that they're outright asking me to give them my property, I may want a bodyguard. Where do I run the ad?

ISO: Beautiful intelligent witty female bodyguard nearing a certain age to role-play "long-term girlfriend" at family gatherings. Must be expert in hand-to-hand combat, proficient in the use of Tasers, flash-bangs, smoke grenades. Masters or Doctorate in psychology a plus.

I've heard rumors that some of the moderators moonlight as bodyguards.

Interesting idea. Generally if I expect to travel someplace that would require protection, I don't go. Of course, if it's part of your job then you don't have much choice.

I remember back when the USSR fell apart and business in Russia opened up, my former boss was stationed there for a while, and they all had armed (as in automatic rifles) escorts everywhere.
