I kind of think is sacrilege to say it's sacrilege to try out different things. And I don't wear any of my Rolex watches on anything but OEM bracelets.

MOST of the time I agree with your friend. To me its like getting a Rolls and swapping out the factory wheels for a set of spinners

I changed my BLNR to a 97200 Sub bracelet because the PCL's didn't grow on me the way I thought they would, and I absolutely love the GlideLock. If someone doesn't like what someone does with your watch, it's his/her issue.

I like rubber straps on dive watches during the summers as they're great at the beach and in the water. There are some watches that are controversial about making changes to. The higher the cost of the watch the greater the sentiments are about keeping the watch stock. I feel similar to the OP in that one is entitled to do what they want with their own watches.

I like Everest and Rubber B........I just can’t fork out the $200+ for a rubber strap. I know, I know.

Personally I feel like if I'm buying a watch, I want it to be versatile enough to be worn on multiple straps. It's past of the reason I'm not really a fan of most of the AP lines. Plus since I usually love vintage looks as much as the latest and greatest, it's sometimes nice to inject a little bit of Paul Newman's swag into my day.

Rolex definitely had it right when they designed their bracelets. They suit the watches they adorn. But, as the OP said "It's My Watch" so do what ever you want......
Of course, I'm a fan of the classics, so I think they got it right the first time. But, that's just me. |

Prefer the OEM look. Experimented with different straps in the past, always found myself going back to the factory bracelet.

Is it me, or does that ceramic daytona look even better on the jubilee than it does on an oyster?

I think a NATO looks like a cheap bit of tat (which it is) and looks pants and on the whole I think a strap change makes the watch look worse
The exception being some vintage watches, which often look great with leather |

I think the watches look best on their bracelets
That being said, I like to change things around as well, sometimes for changes sake and sometimes out of necessity due to work for example. I flirt between an Erikas Original on my SD and a leather strap at work, but it’s back on its bracelet when I’m on the flight home to grab some leave time. I have a DJ that’s just joined the collection, and it will be on it’s Jubilee or a leather strap depending on mood and how I’m dressed for an occasion. It’s good to have options. To me the rolex bracelet is one of the great appeals of a Rolex! It is easily distinguishable from far. It is the most evident part of the watch that tells you are wearing a Rolex.
With that said, I never change my Rolex bracelets!!!

I have a TT bluesy and wear it on blue rubber because it looks far too ostentatious (blingy) on a TT bracelet. But I suppose some people want others to say OH is that a Rolex?
At the end of the day it’s only a watch. |

Yes, I think manufacturers know what they are doing and I prefer how they come. Rolex - mainly on bracelets, AP - RO on bracelets and ROO on straps, Nautilus on bracelets and Aquanaut on straps. Actually I only find Breitlings to be totally interchangeable between bracelets and straps. Omegas a close second.

I prefer my watches as they were delivered from the company but to change up a strap or bracelet is ok.

Agreed. I find it more common than not to swap out straps. Though I told my wife to ban me from purchasing anymore! Always a waste of money. Even my Everest gets 0 use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Agree, the large lugged cases are a problem. Straps are fun. Sometime they work sometimes not. It adds to the enjoyment.

No, not sacrilege. Not at all. But, I will admit I've seen some pretty hideous watch/strap combinations in my day.
At the end of the day, though, who am I to tell someone else what to do, or not to do, with his watch? |
