How many people also own an Omega Speedmaster MOTN

Hello,
Just viewing some amazing collections here in a few threads.

I noticed I interesting thing.... so many people here also own an OMEGA SPEEDMASTER MAN ON THE MOON WATCH. This is the manual wind piece.

How many people here also own that killer Omega?

Speedmaster Pro is one of only a handful of watches with historical lineages dating back a similar length to the Rolex Submariner, with the first Speedy released in 1957, years before the first Rolex Daytona was made.

The reason so many guys here own Submariners is the history that dates back to then, and the achievements of people wearing subs over the years. The Speedy has the same allure, being worn by legends over the last 50+ years, and the Pro version has remained almost untouched, with only very slight movement changes and luminova changes since the 60s.

The other thing is being manual wind, the Speedy vies for your attention at least once a day, like a puppy.

I have one too. It was the 2nd Omega for my collection.

The manual wind is quite a fun thing to do in the morning.

Over the years I have owned a couple of dozen Speedy Pros. Currently I have two in my collection.

My grail, a 105.012 cal 321 as worn by Armstrong and other moon walkers:

and this custom I built up from a cal 861 movement (c. 1982):

No other watch has the history and mystery of the Speedmaster Professional. No serious watch collection is complete without one.

That last sentence, if you posted in the Rolex forum would have stirred up the Submariner hornet's nest big time, good thing they don't check here! lol

It's a great versatile watch. I've come across 6 in the past 2 months. Still sorting through the ones I get till I find a keeper.

That is why I went through so many before I decided exactly which one I wanted.

My first "toe in the water" was a pre-owned vanilla 3570.50 then I went through some LEs and others. Being a wearer and not a collector, I decided against any more LEs. I finally realized that I wanted a true moon watch (not a "look-alike") and stumbled upon the 105.012 in near mint condition for <$1300.

But I do like display backs so I added this to my moon watch:

My custom Speedy Pro began as a commemorative project but technical difficulties did not permit completion. Regardless, I'm pleased with the result.

Never thought of it that way, but I like it. It DEMANDS that I look at each and touch it each day, lest the date and moonphase get thrown off! And I do!
