Help with Blue Tudor 79090

I've had a soft spot for these ever since seeing one in Japan in the 90s. I've found one that is reasonably priced, but I'm afraid it's a Franken-monster or a put-together. The things that seem wrong are --

*The quality of the dial is poor (relume? bad font?)
*The bezel insert looks cheap (again, bad font ?)
*I've yet to see one with a gold datewheel ?
*Case looks pooks polished?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance for any help

It’s a nice watch. I think you hit the problems. You can get a legit Rolex bezel and insert for $300 at a Rolex dealer. The date wheel looks to old for a 79090. The font is wrong. Did you see the big chip at 42? What is the asking price ?

Not bad. I rather have a chipped blue dial than a mint black dial!

Thanks. Really nice. That's how a blue 79090 should look

Any further thoughts?

I'm inclined to pick this one up and clean it up a bit to be a daily wearer

I think if you can wiggle a bit on the price, it'll be a great purchase.

The blue dial watches seem to demand a premium I believe, and I have been looking at these.

I was expecting to pay about four grand for a nice black dial version w/o a band.

So if you can get the blue for 3K - 3.5 I think it’s a good deal?

The dial would bother me. There's just too much here that I don't like. The bezel not being original, the case appears to be re cut (which isn't necessarily a bad thing in my opinion), date wheel, and the chip on the dial.

Would a better condition black version be out? I'd go this route all day long.

With that dial damage it would be hard to sell on if you ever want to. I'd keep saving and hold out for a better example.

Looks great! I'm keeping an eye out for a Blue 79190, but they seem next to impossible to find... and I'm looking for a box/papers example.
