They said they could order the chocolate roman and chocolate baguette but are not allowed to order the olive. I also tried 3 different AD's while on vacation in The Bahamas last week and none had any watches. So at this point it seems like my options are to order from this AD and wait, pay the premium to go grey now or sit tight and wait to see if grey prices come down a little and grab it then.

I advise you to go in person and have a chat with the owner/manager of each AD. No point calling them, you need to be in front of them. If you call for all they know you’re a flipper.

Agree it's better to be there in person and I've already stopped in a few of them. I'm not a flipper that's the funny part.

Wait it out at the AD. You'll be the genuine first owner of the watch, you'll have saved a decent chunk of money and you won't be adding further to the grey market froth.

They will see that when you visit, they can’t tell over the phone.

They originally quoted a year then text me the next day saying 8 months so hopefully it would be even sooner!

I would go AD for sure. Great piece to help with future purchases. As for your concern about the prices cooling off down the road. I feel once for we fully recover from the pandemic PM models will not be sold at premiums and will be in cases again to sweeten the pot for hot SS pieces. This goes for TT, DD,DJ,OP as well.

Thanks for sharing your opinion I appreciate it. I don't really see PM pieces being readily available and sitting in cases again but who really knows!

In general, get it from the boutiques/ADs is good so you can build up the relationship with your SA.

But if the wait time is too long (more than 6 months), msrp might increase also.

Your AD has said they can put an order in the RG DD with certain dials.
I would see that as a omen that you will get it much sooner than you think.
Also sets you up as a solid customer for future purchases.

If you put a deposit and order from the AD and retail price increases are you locked in at the price you agreed to originally or you have to pay the new price?

True but they also said they have 3 of them incoming that are special orders for other customers and 1 is still 6 months out and the other 2 are still like a year out so I'm not sure how they can place my order today and quote me 8 months. I'm afraid they're just telling me that to get me to commit but it could be much longer.

you can probably squeeze a little bit out of the price too, maybe down to 50-50.5 or so

Working on it if I can get it down a little then the premium isn't too bad and I'll just grab his instead of waiting 8 months or possibly even longer with the AD.

imo, with spend this big, place it at an AD.

Not a big fan of grey shopping unless you absolutely have to (Daytona).

On the grey market from everything I've seen they seem to be going for like $51-55k.

Would you order from the AD and wait or would you pay the premium to get now?

I don't buy watches solely as investments but I'd hate to pay the current grey market price and then the Day-Dates cool off and they start selling at retail or even less.

This makes me think ordering from the AD and waiting is the "safest" bet at least from a financial perspective.

What are your thoughts? What would you do? Thanks in advance!
Assuming you are in good health and are not filthy rich I would go with the AD on this one.

Although let me amend that-if you have 3 million or more disposable-**** that
"Buy today and wear tomorrow morning".
Most of us are of course NOT in close to such fortunate circumstances. The rose is lovely. I would suggest another dial personally-green or white.

There is always the route of buy it grey now, and when your AD comes through, dump the one you bought grey. You might lose a little, you might even make a little depending on the market.

Be patient. If you have other available watches on your want list, buy those while you wait. Not to be a bad influence or anything!
