What's up with everyone buying their wives cheap OPs? Step it up a little and at least go Datejust!

Some ladies prefer the smooth bezel and fully brushed bracelet of the OP. I’m sure some also hate the cyclops. Additionally, they killed off the 34mm Date, so the OP is now the only 34mm SS model (which is too bad because it’s a very nice unisex size).

34mm.

Smaller watches look good on women.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me I was at my AD with my wife on a date and my AD was installing the new EZLink they had set aside for my OP36. While we were there we wanted to have my wife try on 31mm and 34mm watches to see which size she preferred and then I was going to hunt for something. My 36mm was too large for her. When my wife looked at the case and saw the new blue dial OP 34mm she knew that was exactly what she wanted. They offered to special order any configuration of Datejust or OP that she wanted, but the blue dial was exactly what she wanted. We left and I secretly put the deal together later that week and surprised her with it on Mother's Day. My 124060 or 126610 will be coming next, hopefully before next year.

Trying different watches at an AD? What is this, 2018?

Haha, the objective was to find literally anything in 31 and anything in 34 no matter what it was or what it looked like, purely to test for size. I had no idea they would actually have something there in the case that she would like, let alone that one. Some guy was trying to sell a blue dial here on TRF for 8k or so last month. Cripes, for an OP...

I have found that many women prefer the clean symmetry of a clean dial without date function. Especially the Rolex "cyclops" is often found appalling. Thus OP is the perfect watch with many great size options.

I would say 34 all the way. I think she will prefer the 34 classy dial without the double batons.

thank you, that helps a lot

it's interesting that the Explorer has a bigger taper and a smaller clasp than the OP34

Yes, it's quite dainty. Slimmer around the lugs too.

I have been wearing my OP34 white a lot lately, as I wait for an AD to call me about the interest I have expressed in the 36mm Explorer 124270.

Losing hope I will ever get the Explorer, but enjoying the OP34 nonetheless. I have received more interest and compliments from non-WIS about the OP for its unobtrusive sizing. Great watch, very comfortable to wear.

Thanks for the pics guys! They help a lot!
Is it hard to get the 34 from AD?

My own, minute, anecdotal experience:

-Dealers will take orders for it (two offered, one with deposit)
-I took one up on it a month ago (for silver) and it has yet to arrive
-Had the opportunity to try on a blue that a third AD happened to have in the case (and was moments away from selling)
-The few dealers I’ve had conversations with have suggested that supply is short but there aren’t waitlists and they go into cases upon arrival
-One off the dealers who offered to order was very deliberate in saying that it was 34 that could be ordered, implying larger sizes could not

34 of the 2 sizes but think about the 31 too? Demand is high for all steel Rolex in any size but good luck

I wear the 34mm OP in white as my daily. After getting so used to it, when I tried on the new 36mm Explorer, all I could see was it’s faults. Had to pass because I couldn’t justify spending MORE money on a watch that I didn’t like as much as my daily OP. Will be interested to know your thoughts when you do eventually try it on in-store.

I'm in the same situation too. I have the OP34 along with a BB36, and now I'm leaning towards taking myself off the list for Explorer 1 since these 3 are just too similar.

The lug-to-lug felt larger on the new explorer - maybe it was just my imagination?

I just saw a blue Op 34 from @recaro aka crown in oyster case that he is selling. I have a 6” wrist and it fit well!

If she likes the 16570 what about getting the new 36mm Explorer? I have both and the 36mm wears smaller for sure.

Here it is on my 5,5 inch wrist.

My better half has been sporting my white OP39 and 114060 as of late.
Yesterday she had on her navy BB36 and it looked tiny. She is about 5ft8 and 140,
I prefer larger watches on ladies.

Just picked up the 36 in pink for my daughter who has tiny wrist and it looks perfect. If she likes your 16570 at 40 pretty sure she’ll prefer the 36.

I will share my thoughts when I get a chance to try it on. I am curious, what were your impressions and why do you think the watch didn't click with you?

I am excited that the Explorer is back at 36mm with the upgraded bracelet. I think the slimmer clasp will be very comfortable on the wrist, and I am looking forward to the increased legibility of the Mercedes hands on the lacquer black background.
