Any owners of both DSSD and SD43 ??

Would very much appreciate thoughts on ownership of both DSSD and SD43.
Currently have (and wear) black dial DSSD, Polar Exp2 and Zenith Pilot GMT. My pre maxi case Sub date is now firmly on my wife's wrist and she loves it!! It began to feel too small compared to the other three (particularly the 48mm pilot which wears much smaller anyway due to curved lugs). I spoke to AD soon after release of the new SD and should be getting the call in the next few weeks - deliveries monthly and they expect early Aug. I am torn though....having read thread on this forum re turning down SD43 at AD, it made me think....can I live with both? My collection is not large and I do not plan to add more....the Sub is 14 years old!! I rotate daily, trying NOT to wear same watch on two consecutive days. I have tried 43....briefly....and it's essentially a bigger Sub....but super comfy and wears well. DSSD same....took diver ext off and replaced with 1 link...perfect fit.
If I pass on the opportunity, am I going to regret it 5 mins later when someone else buys it??

It's really just a personal choice, isn't it? Personally, if I had a DSSD I wouldn't get an SD43. They're very similar watches, and the DSSD has the extra bonus of being meaningfully different from a submariner in more than just size. If you've been dreaming of a sub but bigger, then the SD43 might be better for you, but if not I don't see why you'd want both.

I have both, and I find the watches to be similar but also two very different animals. The SD43 is the new kid in town, newer and lighter but in essence still a normal Sea Dweller in the sense of depth rating and a hint to the 1665 with the red writing. The DSSD is Rolex pinnacle for waterproofness and exaggerated design thickness, curved cristal and no cyclop, the true Tool Watch.
The SD43 is the more dressy and elegant and the DSSD is the sportier one. I believe that these watches compliment each other and are totally different, therefore yes you can definitely live with and wear both at different occasions. My 2 cents ;)

I own a sub and a deep blue. I passed on the 43 yesterday as my AD had one for me. Way too close. If I didn't own a sub I would buy one.

I'd say they are too close. AD always think i have a sub on at first and only discover it's a 43 when i take it off try on something. It will be the same thing with the DSSD.

Same here, a few years ago when I had a DSSD and a few 44 watches, I could have gone for this pair.

I don't have the DSSD but I own the discontinued 116600 and have a new 126600 ordered.
I plan to keep them both.

Thanks chaps. I'm glad there are some who feel both good and bad about owning both. Will just wait for that call and take it from there.
