Ok then I will add in something like a AP ROO GC with PC, split seconds chrono, and a minute repeater.

Imho that's a VERY good thing. Back in the 1980s and 1990s things were tough out there for true independent watchmakers. With today's vast awareness of our 'hobby' plus a historic increase in currency availability, the run to things of merit / value makes perfect sense. Here in 2023, the 'problem' is the need for an increase in the number of talented independent watchmakers, so this is GREAT news as the future for the art/craft of mechanical watchmakers looks far better than it did pre-2000

Being a bit selfish, yes i miss the days of walking into my local AD and get ___, yet that technically was not 'good' for horology as demand was low back then. Today there's an ability and market for true independent watchmakers to create.

I would get a second piece of my favorite Charles Frodsham, this time in white gold (may order anyway).

Then, Breguet minute repeater with their new gold gongs (which you can buy without spending 2 million before purchasing--which is what a Patek AD told me I'd need to do for a PP MR).

Call the total 400, then a custom Atelier de Chronometrie plus a custom bracelet, 500 total.

Breguet Tradition retrograde with blue boutique dial, I love it so much.

Rolex 1908, wg black dial. I really like this watch. May have it refinished by a watchmaker who is trained in finishing, just as a mad thing to do.

Philippe Narbel's watch, just to make people who paid 650k for a Dufour feel bad about themselves, Narbel is the guy who other watch brands would send their "in-house" watches to for highest end finishing. He teaches watchmakers how to do high end Swiss-French finishing. Now, he has his own watch.

About 700 spent, now a more vintage Breguet MR and the cost of a full expert service, for my wife. Should be 200 or less
And a full set of Breguet jewelry to match the watch, to finish off the money.

This is all assuming Chewie won't let me devote a huge amount of it to charity, in which case most of it goes to kids in need, f*ck watches, except for the Frodsham, still want that!

Let me know what you think! I'm not mentioning him on the PD thread! He's our secret!

P.S. Movement specialist Andreas Strehler (he helped design the Gronefeld remontoire, which they, of course, were super open about because Bart and Tim are top notch people), has his own watch out now. The movement looks beautiful, and then there's better finishing than can be found for twice the price. Styling not for everyone, but interesting!! Let me know your thoughts.

As usual you make an excellent point.
