In the market for a 3700 – a few questions to the forum
Dear all
I’m in the market for a Nautilus 3700 in steel although prices seems to have escalated the few last years. Three questions for the forum – really need your thoughts, market insights and honest opinions: 1. Differences between the 3700/1 and 3700/11 are few, and I don’t have any preferences. Prices also seems to be about the same (as far as I can see). What do the forum think. Is it better to get the first edition (3700/1) or the later (3700/11). The subject wat shortly touched in this thread (https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...highlight=3700) in 2015, but it would be nice to here current status from you out there with market insights, 2. Is it stupid buying now in this rather escalated market? I’m not buying as an investment, but want a watch I can use. I’m by no means ‘rich’ and need to sell my 3800 to finance a 3700, thus I would be very sad to see a huge value drop, e.g. 50% What are your thoughts here given no one has a crystal ball. 3. If some of you would be interested in giving me your opinion about some specific watches, please let me know. Any help is highly appreciated, Thanks 😊 |

Well, jump in as soon as you can. The market for all the older Nautilus is being driven by the total lack of the 5711 in the marketplace, except at 2X used. There is more upside not downside in my view.

You need to check the watch entirely ,rust under bezel or in the case very common which leads to zero WR and you may end up to buy a service case for 15k extra from Patek.

Lots to consider here.... i have owned 3 3700’s and currently own 2. Buy mstanga’s ‘bible’ on the 3700 if u want to know all the details but here are a few while searching. You MUST only look at watches with ‘sigma swiss sigma’ AND accent over GENEVE! This is a must. Dont ever consider a watch without these two initial qualifications... many others as well... send me a private DM if u want to chat.
I think the market prices will slowly climb and the chances for a crash is not high. They made so few to begin with and very fee good examples are still in circulation. |

A very late update to this thread.
Two years ago (shortly after this thread was created) I ended up buying a 3700/11 as a full set. I've worn it nearly every day since, and I'm very happy (very) happy about it. Thanks for all the support and help :-) |
